79-80 Gordie Howe and Gretzky same Line

After watching Gretzky and The Howes completely dominate Moscow Spartak in 78-79 it got me wondering if Gordie Howe and Mark/Marty did consider the possibility of playing with 18 year old Gretzky in Edmonton in 79/80 and possibly a few more years after that.

Gordie Howe at 50 looked absolutely Dominant against Spartak in those 3 Games.

I believe you mean Dynamo Moscow who played against the WHA All-Stars in Edmonton that season.

Either way that line of Wayne Mark and Gordie was something else in that series.

Between 1955 and 1989, Dynamo has never won a Soviet league title.

Most of the best players were with the Red Army.

Spartak Moscow won four titles over that period.

Dynamo was 3rd fiddle. The ONLY all-time greats from that team in that era are Maltsev and Vasiliev.

NOTE: Howe & Gretzky played on the same line for ONE game. That's all.

That 1979 WHA All-Star thing is so weird. What was up with that? In a League that was about to fold, and some teams couldn't even stabilize for 80 games to complete a full season, they had a 3-game All Star game....? All in Edmonton?
