I think we were urgent right from the start in this one after the loss in Calgary, where we knew defensively we weren’t good enough.
Improving that was our main focus. We’re looking at every game like a must-win.
- Rick Nash

We played to our strengths. We chipped it in, used our speed on the forecheck to get there and then were able to work down low.
We talked before the game about tightening things up after what had happened in the last game. I thought we responded very well.
- Ryan McDonagh

We came in here and we hadn't played as well as we could defensivly I thought in Calgary.
And tonight we were better, and when the Oilers got some opportunities Talbot made the saves.
- Alain Vigneault

Have to get up at 4 AM to get to work, so won't be able to watch the game. Will watch it on-demand though when I get home.

I'm not a mathematician but those goals for/game vs goals against/ game seem off.

I think NHL stats count a shootout win as a goal, whereas GF/G and GA/G don't.

That would be my guess, anyway...

Edit: Yup, that's exactly it. 205GF minus our 4 SOW is 201. 201/76=2.64. 183GA minus our 2 SOL is 181. 181/76=2.38.

So Carcillo is now with Richards and St. Louis? That makes even less sense. At least Stepan and Nash were playing well, you're going to put Richards with 2 ineffective players? Just call up Fast already.

Boyle Moore Carcillo was a good 4th line too

If u don't trust miller put Dorsett with Richards and MSL

I'm really amazed AV won't just put miller on Stepan or Richards left side u win 5-0 and he messes all the lines up?

Your wife MAKES u do that huh?

Ouch

Well, in all fairness, I don't get home from work until 6PM. By the time I've finished with dinner, a 7PM game is just about to start. She doesn't care to watch the game, so we would get almost no quality time together on game nights if I watched them at normal times. The weekends are much easier to watch live.

I remember at one point last season our bottom 6 was this:

Pyatt - Miller - Powe
Haley - Halpern - Bickel

:help::shakehead:cry::facepalm:

Asham was hurt and Boyle was in Torts' doghouse. Besides that no major injuries.

It's so nice having actual depth now.

Cool video from the first meeting. Cally and Kreider will be missed.

Btw, I didn't know AV can yell. Always so quiet on the bench, maybe not. He sounds like a foghorn, good lord...

That's just scary bad. The 3rd line then was significantly worse than our 4th line today.

Though at the time we had the best top line in the league, which lightened the burden slightly. I wish they (Hagelin-Stepan-Nash) could find that level of play again.

Not sure why we flipped carcillo with hagelin. Let Hagelin stay with St.Louis and retrieve pucks, do the dirty work.

AV went from never changing his lines up now to doing it for no reason. Why is he putting Carcillo with Richards and MSL. That line has disaster written all over it. That's a great way to get MSL going, put a friggin goon on his line.
