[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

We’ve just gotta be solid. We’ve got to play like we have recently at home.
Come out strong and play good early and work for a lead and not be on our heels.
- Keith Yandle

We just tried to come here and play our own game.
We didn’t focus on who they were missing. We just wanted the two points and that’s what we got.
- Antti Raanta

We were able to capitalize early on a few of their mistakes.
They’ve got a couple of young Ds out there and we were able to put a little bit of pressure on them.
Our PP came up big the first two opportunities, we scored both times, up by three after two you’re in pretty good shape.
- Alain Vigneault

Brassard 4 points removed from a new career-high in points
Zucc 3 points removed from a new career-high in points

Also, Brassard at home vs. Pittsburgh = MONEY

Since joining the Rangers, Brass had just 1 reg. season game (12/08/2014) at MSG vs. Pittsburgh where he did not score. (5G, 4A in 6 games). The guy is money against the Penguins. He has 6G. 8A in 13 games against them as a Ranger home and away vs Pittsburgh. Over 1 PPG when playing Crosby & co.

A regulation win today would really solidify getting 2nd in the Metro. Would be 6 points clear with an extra game played and 6 games left (including games v. Buffalo, Carolina, and CBJ).

Why is the 35% FO guy playing center on the same line with a 50% FO guy on the wing. Staal is better at C than Hayes. If he can't hack playing wing, he should be 13th forward. Lindberg is better than Hayes in just about every facet of the game. I don't get AV's undying love for this kid.

Is it just because of his size? Because he doesn't use that size at all and skates about as good as McIlrath when they tried him at forward.

Staal took 4 faceoffs yesterday. Hayes took 6 (5 were NZ faceoffs).

Let's get into playoff form here guys! That Schlachtfest in Montreal yesterday should be a confidence booster.

Maybe Kreider is getting hot just in time.

Not a horrible bet that the winner of this game gets 2nd place in the Metro.

Think it will be telling to see how the Rangers come out and play in this one.

Staal usually takes the face offs for that line, and then slides back to the wing. Hayes looks infinitely better centering a line than he does on the wing, and vise versa for staal. I agree with getting Lindberg back in though. That Lindberg-Staal- Stalberg line was probably the best line AV has put together this season. Stalberg has also looked very good with Moore lately too. He has just looked very good in general for the last while.

So we win this and will likely be set for home ice in the 1st round. Let's see if the team shows up tonight.

Not a horrible bet that the loser would get 2nd in the Metro either

The winger can take draws and outside of that 1 game that he won like 19 of 20 staal has been awful on faceoffs

He was 3-1 in 4 faceoffs last night compared to Hayes taking 6 and going 2-4.

Staal 11-7 vs SJ and 5-2 vs Fla so in 3 of his last 5 games he hasn't been awful.

So I'm reading the game thread. Great job as usual Loffen. What jumps out to me is our season is almost over and Dylan leads the team in with 60PIM. I do not pay attention to PIM but that seems like a pretty darn low number to be our team leader. I remember the days when our team leaders would be at 150PIM-250PIM for a season. Are we just a really clean team?

Less fighting. Washington has Wilson at 148 but Ovechkin is 2nd with only 47

I'd wager winner of this game has a 65% chance of finishing 2nd in the division. That is based purely on speculation and no underlying math.

So, even according to that percentage, 35% ain't that bad either.

If the Rangers win this game (in regulation) they would be way above 65% to finish second in the division. If the Peguins win (in regulation) the Rangers would still be the favorite but only slight and it might swing based on RoS strength of schedule.
