Doesn't seem like the hockey gods are smiling on the Stars much lately, although if they were really against us, that Scevior goal would have been called back. And, the old adage of the harder you work, the better your breaks, probably applies, but the Stars were generally a better skating team last night, if only by a bit. We always wanted to be able to skate like Detroit, so we have that goal accomplished.
Just thought that penalty call on Janmark was pretty weak, given how the rest of the game was called - and it was called correctly with two good teams playing well and playing hard - until then.
You have to wonder what goes through a referees mind. The arm went up so fast at a light touch to the stick, which rode up to the hands, that he had to almost be looking for something to call, but not sure why. Its not like they owed DET a power play as the calls were pretty even. If anything, calling a flail at a high puck a follow through motion on a pass to deny a high stick to Eakins face, they owed us one.
