The AVs bottom six had speed, forechecked with limited skill, but top players like McKinnon and Makar play defense.
Offensive players often struggle for stretches, but teams that play defense, forecheck and back check consistently (all about effort) can stay competitive and buy time for their offensive stars to break out of their scoring slumps.
