The good news is that if we lose to Buffalo I'm pretty sure they're required to give us the 1st overall pick.

But no need to worry, we're winning this one 5-1.

Win this and we are 5 points back of Boston with at least one game to play head to head with them. BS that w le could be in a situation to get within 3 of them with a win pretty easily.
Assuming a big game agaisnt Nashville we should be getting a lot of points in the next few weeks. Don't think we should be in tank mode anymore, despite the poor play the last two games.

Yeah I'm officially on the playoffs or bust movement. This team is too talented to be tank discussion. I'm thinking they squeeze in the playoffs somehow in typical Flyers fashion. I hope Hextall doesn't try to buy at the deadline though. We should be selling off some 'assets' but even then I think they'll keep getting enough points to get in. If Giroux and Voracek can get back to pre all star game form and finish top 3 in points and we make the playoffs, then they should seriously be considered for the Hart.

This team's worst problem this year was the PK, but refs seem to call less penalties, which really helps us. Also, getting Kimmo back should help the PK.

If our PK had been good at the beginning of the year, we'd be easily in a playoffs spot. It made us lose a lot of games.

But at the same time, the team's biggest strength is the PP and less power plays has been contributing to their scoring struggles.

Our PP is good, esp. at home, but not good enough to compensate for our PK imo.

Not sure the numbers but our PK has done an 180 over the last stretch. We need a forecheck game or some kind of possession to get more O and more pp chances. Vinny and umberger kill that a lot of times. That's been the top line problem of late too.

Sounds like Stolarz won't get a start unless both Zepp (again) and Emery get hurt.

MacDonald and Colaiacovo both scratched, so both are on equal footing, just one guy has a $30M contract and the other doesn't.

Not sure what you mean by the equal footing. McDonald is scratched because of a death in the family. Not because of his play.

I wonder how long that logjam on defense will last?

Never particularly liked that Coburn/Grossmann shutdown pairing and I fear it's even worse with a rusty Coburn. Not that Coburn had chemistry with any defenseman not named Timonen to begin with...

Berube said he was sitting MacDonald because he needed some practice time after missing a game and a practice to attend his grandmother’s funeral services.

Two days after the Flyers D turned in a completely awful defensive effort without MacDonald in the lineup because he was attending a relative's funeral is a weird time for you to renew your personal crusade against him. Maybe you should wait till he makes a terrible defensive error that leads to a game winning goal like Colaiacovo did on Friday.

If they were chasing any other team but Boston, I would agree, but if and when we do put the heat on Boston, they will turn it up a notch and pull away. Their a better team.

I genuinely have no idea where you're going with that. First you say MacDonald and CC are on equal footing and its pointed out that he's not playing because of a death in the family, which you acknowledge. Then you post a condescending response to Curufinwe showing exact reason given by Berube in why MacDonald isn't playing and it has nothing to do with being on equal footing.
