All time series record: The Islanders lead 48-35-20. Islanders all time @ home vs Blues are 27-15-11

It's uncertain if Alexander Steen will be available Saturday when the Blues conclude a four-game trip against the New York Islanders.

Steen opened the scoring in the first period Thursday against the New York Rangers with his team-leading 26th goal, but a lower-body injury kept him from finishing the 2-1 victory that helped St. Louis (34-11-5) bounce back from a 7-1 loss at New Jersey two nights earlier.

Among the league's top goal-scorers, Steen has two and two assists in four games since he missed 11 with a concussion. The Blues went 8-2-1 during that stretch without him.

Though St. Louis has been held to one or two goals in six of seven games, it kept the Rangers off the board on three power-play chances after allowing at least one in three consecutive games, including three against the Devils.

Shattenkirk had two assists and Halak made 22 saves as the Blues posted their second straight 5-1 victory over the Islanders (21-25-7) at home Dec. 5.

Kyle Okposo scored his second goal in three games, and has six points in the last four for the Islanders. He assisted on Andrew MacDonald's power-play goal at St. Louis last month.

Teammate John Tavares has two goals with five assists during a five-game point streak, but he's been held without a point in two straight and four of five career contests against the Blues.

Last night kinda deflated my optimism. Hope they can get 3 out of 4 points vs St. Louis and Boston before the ranger games.

Long Island.
Tough tough team. The Blues are an extremely good. One of, if not the best all around team in the entire NHL. Their defense is unreal. Not very optimistic about this one, and the playoffs are becoming slimmer and slimmer with each loss. Hopefully the boys pull out the W.

Wow, Steen leads their team with 42 points. Shows you much of a wolds class defense they have.

Big physical club vs Islanders = Islanders loss 99% of the time.

Plus their defense is something else. If the Blues blow the game off the Isles might win. Outside of that though, our defense will be manhandled all night, and our top 3 lines will be bottled up. That means our only hope is Bailey.

Yup. :shakehead

Keep in mind though that's in 38 games. Would probably have 50+ by now if he didn't miss 11 games to injury.

looking forward to see my boys in Blue against Team Austria & the amazing JT!!

your great first line, not that good D combined with our shaky goaltending, great D and un-ability to score in some games could let us all watch a weird one today!

good luck!

Impressive stats for Halak. Hopefully, we get a 60 min effort from the isles. We badly need these two pts.

Let's go Isles.

Sweet, a matinee! I'll treat it like a treat Browns games and be piss drunk by noon. Then I can accompany my wife to Bed Bath & Beyond so I can pass out on their bedding set up.

Isles 2.5
Blues 1

Their world-class D will hold down the fort, and Hitch will out-coach Crappy every step of the way. I have a feeling this is going to be a very frustrating game to watch. 20 shots on goal, maybe one goal for us while Poulin ****s the bed and lets up some softies. Our record in home afternoon games can't be good.

Best team in the league 5 on 5, good thing we are really good on special teams.... checking our PP and PK stats ... lol, yup we are done.

And fourth best defensive team in the league, can we win 2-1 ? Oh this might be tough.

Forget the realism! Suspension of disbelieve if only for a afternoon. Lets kick the **** out of 'world class' St. Louis.

Isles win 4-2

Looking forward to this one. Bringing my son (5) to his first Islander game. Hopefully he experiences more wins over his years than I have.
