The team has had a series of optional practices in recent off days due to the condensed scheduled and this weekend's two games in two days.

Giroux & Voracek have been playing mostly over 20 minutes a night since Couturier went out of the lineup. Hakstol's been putting a lot of mileage on them lately & night's like this don't really come around too much to where you can give them a break.

If we are going to make it to the playoffs with no Couts for the next 4 weeks we are going to need a lot from Giroux, you have to give him rest when ever you can.

Not to mention he played nearly 28 minutes the other night if I am recollecting correctly. When the game is in hand, give the big guns a rest and grind it out.

Honestly the only reason people can be fazed about G and V not playing in the 3rd is they want them to rack up points to verify their HF board arguments haha. Or fantasy maybe?

I have V in fantasy, but it's just silly. I know it's a 4-0 game going into the 3rd, but who knows what happens with this team.

I will say, having the 1st line not play as much may also mean it's what allowed the Sabres to have 18 shots in the 3rd. Luckily Mason was ****ing huge tonight.
