All time series record: The Flyers lead 141-104-26. Islanders all time @ home vs Flyers are 63-57-15

The Philadelphia Flyers would like to start making things a bit easier on themselves, and that's usually not a problem at Nassau Coliseum.

Rallies in the final 20 minutes have been a big reason why Philadelphia (25-19-5) has turned around a season that started with seven losses in its first eight games.

The Flyers have tied a franchise record for the most wins when trailing in the third, getting their ninth in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Islanders (19-24-7). They scored three times in the final stanza, holding a 14-2 shots advantage.

Philadelphia isn't usually in that position against the Islanders, winning 33 of the past 39 meetings and 20 of 25 on Long Island. The Flyers won for the eighth time in nine trips Oct. 26, scoring three times in the opening period of a 5-2 victory.

Mason is 1-1-1 at NVMC with a 1.95 GAA, while Emery is 7-0-1 with a 1.59 GAA against New York.

Claude Giroux's 34 points in 28 games versus the Islanders is his highest total against any opponent. The captain's 16 points in 14 games at the Coliseum are his most at any visiting venue, and he's collected 14 during an eight-game points streak there.

Andrej Meszaros has also had great success against the Islanders, scoring twice Saturday to give him 11 goals and 28 points in 30 games for his highest totals against any opponent.

Despite New York's troubles with Philadelphia, John Tavares has 17 points in 14 matchups, including five goals and two assists over the past six.

The Islanders, who are 3-11-3 against the Metropolitan Division, play their next seven games in New York. Three of those seven are against the Rangers: two at Madison Square Garden and another outdoors at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 29.

Going to miss the game, I need to meet some people at my business today during that time. DVR'ing it for when I get home. At least it's on the HD channel for Center Ice for me according to the schedule.

Give us a little pre-game "clear out," if it isn't an issue.

Gotta work, I'll be missing the game also. I'll catch it later, Let's go Isles! This game is definitely a must win. A loss pretty much puts this team in a position where playoffs will seem laughable.

Well this being an afternoon game means I'll get to watch it live over here in the UK, bad news is I'm not sure I want to after the last 20mins of the game in Philly!

I just finished reading the last half of the GDT from last game (and I understand the anger/despair) but I started getting over my excitement from the play off appearance last year during the November losing streak. These divisional fixtures are just too important to be below .500, coupled with our poor home record it didn't paint a great picture for making the play offs in a full season...

I'm taking the development of DeHaan, Nelson, Strome and Poulin (yes him too!) as well as the dominance of our top line in recent times as the main positives from this year.

There is loads left to address in goal and on the blue line :)help:) not to mention some of the forwards (Bailey, Regin, Bouchard, I'm looking at you ) but we'll get there in the end and I'm really looking forward to Reinhart and maybe Pullock next year.

Sounds about right. :handclap:

I find it's best just to assume it's going to happen...hence I didn't comment on any of those things in my post!

Lol no it's not. A lot of people are jumping the gun. Anyway, feel a loss now being Nilsson is in net. He hasent played in how long ? They should've got him some work in during the last game.

Do not judge a hockey player by the color of his skin, judge him by what team he plays for. Go Okposo! You suck Simmonds and Emery!

This would be funny if it didn't sound true.:(

I hope they pull off the win today... we can't lose any more division games.
