In this week’s episode, the two 1971 Stanley Cup Semi-final series are decided and we learn who will be in the Stanley Cup final. We’ll also learn of Scotty Bowman’s departure from the St. Louis Blues under what seemed to be mysterious circumstances, and we find out why Bobby Orr did not sign a 5-year contract with the Bruins (that is, if we can believe what Al Eagleson tells us).

This week’s episode covers the first 4 games of the Stanley Cup playoffs. We see some memorable performances, a couple of truly bizarre hockey happenings, and some surprises as well.

I can't stress enough how Game 2 of the Montreal/Boston series was a watershed moment in NHL history.

The Bruins had rookie goaltender Ken Dryden on the ropes, Habs coach Al MacNeil was already a lame duck because he could not speak French and still, the Habs came back to win.

Habs lose that game it is doubtful we ever see Dryden again in Montreal.............but

Meanwhile, Chicago had moved to the West figuring it gave them an easier road to the Cup final and they wound up as a heavy favorite against Montreal

In our 92nd episode we talk about player signing issues being experienced by the Boston Bruins, we learn a lot about Ken Dryden’s summer job, and we talk about the retirement from hockey of the third Cullen brother, Ray, who would follow his older siblings, Brian and Barry, into retirement this season.
