The totals of the 50-50 draws never cease to amaze me.

Last night during the Canada-Czech the winner received $84,000.00.
The total during the USA-Finland game was approx. $46,000.00.

btw...the winner of the $84,000 was Mike Futa, the head of amateur scouting for the LA Kings.

* the other 50% of the total money collected goes to local charities.

The winners are lucky this tournament isn't being played in Collingwood. No one's collected on a 50/50 there in years.

I think that's the insane part. People paid $260 000 on 50-50 tickets during yesterday's games. They usually cost somewhere in the range of $10-$30, no? Think about that for a second.

I think Edmonton has a gambling problem. :D

See.. the thing is, if you can afford a tournament package to WJHC.. you can likely afford 50/50's too..

I remember in Saskatoon the gold medal winning 50/50 got 150,000$$

I spent 20$ a game on 50/50's and won zip.

Winning a lottery while being paid to watch a game? Talk about having your cake and eating it.

Anyone have any idea what the pots are for non-Canada games? I'm going to buy a couple tickets at the Finland/Denmark game tomorrow evening, here's hoping that it is in the neighborhood of $10,000. But heck, so long as it is $140 to cover the costs of the trip to and from Edmonton and the ticket, I'll be happy.

There hasnt been a pot below $35,000 yet. I expect the numbers to only get higher as each game passes
