1992-1994:

September 29, 1992 -- The Flyers and Lightning met in a preseason game played in front of 10,347 at the Orlando (FL) Arena. Tampa Bay scored three third period goals and won 5-3. Mark Recchi scored twice for Philly. Eric Lindros, in his first NHL fight, decked Joe Reekie who was unhappy with Lindros' hard check on Jock Callander. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCQ_8iOSHk8 . Flyers' goalie Daryl Reaugh gave up five goals on 34 shots.
December 20, 1992 -- The teams met for the first time in the regular season and the Lightning won 4-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 10,425 in Expo Hall in Tampa, Florida. Eric Lindros, who returned to the lineup after he missed nine games with a knee injury, scored the first goal in this series. Brian Bradley scored the next two goals. Ex-Flyer Doug Crossman scored his 100th career goal and Marc Bureau finished the scoring. J.C. Bergeron made 18 saves for Tampa Bay. The Lightning outshot Philly 31-19. After the game, a disgusted Lindros said "It comes down to a lot of hard work and taking care of our bodies. Putting some things aside off the ice and focusing on hockey. I'm embarrassed about our effort tonight. I'm embarrassed about my effort first and I'm embarrassed about a lot of people's efforts."
April 3, 1993 -- Dominic Roussel made 32 saves and the Flyers slumping PP went an impressive 4-for-5 in a 6-2 win, the first meeting between the clubs in Philadelphia. The PP was successful just 3 times in the last 54 chances. Mark Recchi (1-2-3), who scored his 51st goal, and Greg Hawgood (1-2-3) led the offense. The Flyers had two PPGs and a 3-2 lead in the opening 10 minutes when Pat Jablonski (7 saves, 10 shots) was replaced by J.C. Bergeron (16 saves, 19 shots).
November 26, 1993 -- Tommy Soderstrom stopped 27 shots and Brent Fedyk scored twice in Philly's 3-0 home win. Fedyk's goals came in the second and third period and gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead. It was the sixth straight game Fedyk registered points. Rod Brind'Amour's 13-game point streak was snapped as he was held scoreless for just the second time in the first 24 games. Tampa Bay outshot the Flyers 12-4 in the last period but the Flyers scored both goals.
November 27, 1993 -- Kevin Dineen, who had three minors in the opening period, scored 34 seconds into OT lifting the Flyers to a 4-3 road win. Mikael Renberg put Philly on top 3-2 with consecutive goals scored in a span of 2:16 during the second period. It was his fourth 2-goal game in his 25th NHL appearance. Dominic Roussel was a perfect 16-for-16 in the opening period and made 30 saves for the win. Rod Brind'Amour, who recorded points in 23 of 25 games at this stage of the season, and Dimitri Yushkevich each had two assists. Dineen had four minors and seven shots in the physical and chippy game. Daren Puppa made 32 saves in the loss.
January 8, 1994 -- Daren Puppa made 28 saves and Brian Bradley and Mikael Andersson scored in the last minute of the second period (Andersson's with three seconds remaining) which swung the momentum in the Lightning's 4-2 home win. Attendance in the Florida Suncoast Dome (Thunderdome) was 26,023, at the time the second largest in NHL history. Dave Brown, who was ejected, and Rudy Poeschek fought prior to the eight-minute mark. Eric Lindros scored a SHG on a breakaway. Milos Holan's PPG, the only goal in his Flyers' career, gave Philly a 2-1 lead. The Flyers held a 30-20 shots advantage including 9-2 in the third period. March 6, 1994 -- Dominic Roussel made 36 saves and Mark Lamb, acquired the prior day in a trade with Ottawa, scored the GWG early in the third period in Philly's 3-1 win at Tampa Bay. Lamb filled in on a line with Mikael Renberg and Mark Recchi because Eric Lindros suffered back spasms in the pre-game skate. Renberg scored the Flyers' first goal with under six minutes to play in the second period. Recchi scored the third goal. The Flyers scored twice on three shots in the decisive third period despite being outshot 16-3. Tampa Bay held a 37-21 shots advantage in the game. The attendance was 21,849.
March 13, 1994 -- Eric Lindros scored with 28 seconds left in the third period and the game ended in a 5-5 OT tie in Philly. Brian Bradley (2-2-4) scored twice in the final three minutes of regulation, including the temporary go-ahead goal with 55 seconds to play, which put Tampa Bay on top 5-4. The Flyers led 2-0 but fell behind 3-2 when the Lightning scored three times in a span of 2:06 late in the first period. After a scoreless second, Philly went ahead 4-3 in the third on goals 20 seconds apart by Yves Racine and Todd Hlushko, the latter his only point in two career games with the Flyers. The Lightning held a 37-21 shots advantage including 16-5 in the third period and OT.
September 6, 1994 -- The Lightning acquired the rights to Alexander Selivanov from the Flyers for a 1995 fourth round pick (Radovan Somik was selected). Selivanov was a Flyers' 1994 sixth round pick.

1995-1999

February 14, 1995 -- John LeClair (3-2-5) recorded his first career NHL hat trick, Mikael Renberg (2-0-2) scored twice and Dominic Roussel made 35 saves in the 5-2 win at Tampa Bay in front of 21,896. LeClair gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead during a four-minute high-sticking minor to Denis Savard. Renberg later scored twice to give Philly a 3-0 lead through the opening period. The Lightning dominated the second period 20-8 in shots and closed the score to 3-2. LeClair scored twice in the third period and was a +4 as was Eric Lindros.
March 7, 1995 -- John LeClair (2-0-2) led six Flyers with two-point games in a 4-3 win in front of 21,827 at Tampa Bay. Philly led 4-1 in the second period but Brantt Myhres and Paul Ysebaert each scored their first goals in a Tampa Bay sweater to make it 4-3. Brent Fedyk suffered a strained neck and missed the next 13 games.
April 6, 1995 -- John LeClair (1-2-3) snapped a third period tie and Brent Fedyk, who suffered a strained neck and missed 13 games the last time the teams met, returned to action and had two (1-1-2) points in the Flyers' 5-4 home win. After Alexander Semak gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead, a frustrated Ron Hextall (18 saves) shattered his stick on one of the goal posts. Less than eight minutes later, the Flyers took a 3-2 lead on goals by Mikael Renberg, Kevin Haller and Fedyk. Mikael Andersson tied it in the last minute of the second period. LeClair and Rod Brind'Amour scored in the third period.
April 14, 1995 -- John LeClair's (1-2-3) tip-in of an Eric Lindros shot snapped a 2-2 tie and Philly won 3-2 at home. LeClair increased his points total to 13 (7-6-13) in four games against the Lightning. The Legion of Doom combined for seven points. Rod Brind'Amour scored which accounted for his 400th career point. Dominic Roussel made 18 saves which led Lindros to say "Anytime you get great goaltending like we had today, your chances for winning really improve. If you watch the way he handled the puck tonight, on the wraparounds especially, you could tell he was on." Brian Bradley evened the game 2-2 1:07 prior to the winning goal. October 31, 1995 -- Eric Lindros and John LeClair scored first period PPGs but Tampa Bay scored twice in the second for a 2-2 tie in Philly. Daren Puppa made 41 saves including 19-for-19 in the middle period. Garth Snow made 27 saves in his second game for the Flyers.
December 14, 1995 -- Ron Hextall made 18 stops for his 11th career shutout and John LeClair scored twice in the Flyers' 4-0 home win. LeClair (2-1-3) and Eric Lindros (1-2-3) had six points and were a combined +5. February 17, 1996 -- Jeff Reese made 24 saves and Brian Bradley (2-1-3) scored twice in the Lightning's 5-2 home win. The Flyers led 2-0 at the 6:59 mark but the Lightning scored the next five goals. Rob Zamuner broke the 2-2 tie near the game's midway point.
March 13, 1996 -- The team played to a 1-1 tie in Philly. Daren Puppa, who entered the game off consecutive shutouts, made 42 saves including 20-for-21 in the second period. Goals were scored by Shawn Burr, with 5:36 left in the second period, and Rod Brind'Amour, with 1:36 left in the same period, a PPG during a double minor to Enrico Ciccone.
April 14, 1996 --Garth Snow made 28 saves and the Flyers earned home ice advantage in the Eastern Conference POs with a 3-1 win in front of 23,697 in the ThunderDome. The win, coupled with the Penguins' loss against Boston, gave the Flyers 103 points to Pittsburgh's 102. Eric Lindros (1-1-2), Kerry Huffman and Rod Brind'Amour scored in the second period. Alex Selivanov, who tied the game 1-1, was ejected about three minutes later with a gross misconduct penalty (reports said he pulled hair) and triple-minor (unsportsmanlike, high sticking and roughing) in a scrum with Petr Svoboda, who had a double-minor. Tampa Bay backup netminder Jeff Reese made 31 saves and leading scorer Brian Bradley (knee injury) did not play.
April 16, 1996 -- In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference QFs in Philly, the Flyers outshot Tampa Bay 32-17 in a 7-3 win. The Flyers led 3-0 by the 6:47 mark including goals by Dale Hawerchuk (1-1-2) in the opening minute and Joel Otto (1-1-2) who factored in the second and third goals. The lead expanded to 6-0 12:01 into the second period. The Lightning cut the score to 6-3 in the third. Seven Flyers scored including Eric Lindros (1-2-3) and Pat Falloon (1-2-3) who both had three points. Daren Puppa (10 saves, 14 shots) was replaced by Jeff Reese (15 stops, 18 shots). The matchup was between the first and eighth seeds and marked Tampa Bay's debut in the NHL POs. Mikael Renberg, who missed 30 of the last 36 regular season games due to abdominal strains, was scheduled to rejoin the team but his fiancee Stina gave birth to a baby girl and Russ Romaniuk took Renberg's place in the lineup. At practice the following day, Roman Hamrlik said he didn't like playing for head coach Terry Crisp and wished Wayne Cashman was the Lightning's head coach. April 18, 1996 -- In Game 2 in Philly, Brian Bellows scored 9:05 into OT leading the Lightning to a 2-1 victory. The goal came 47 seconds after Tampa Bay killed a minor penalty to David Shaw. Daren Puppa (26 saves in the game) made several key stops in the man advantage including one off his helmet. Mikael Renberg, who missed 31 of the last 37 games, mostly due to abdominal strains, returned to the lineup two days after becoming a father and he was jabbed in the midsection by Cory Cross which set off a fury. Joel Otto suffered a left left knee strain and John Druce was knocked out for the balance of the playoffs with torn knee ligaments after Ulanov slew-footed him. Igor Ulanov (who, when with the Winnipeg Jets, ended Eric Lindros' season in March 1994 with a sprained shoulder) put Lindros temporarily out of this game. John LeClair had to be helped from the ice with a severely sprained ankle after getting hit from behind by Michel Petit near the goal post and didn't return until Game 4. April 21, 1996 -- In Game 3 in St. Petersburg, the Lightning prevailed 5-4 in OT when former Flyers' draft pick Alexander Selivanov scored. Brian Bellows evened the game with 1:19 remaining in regulation on a goal assisted by Selivanov. In the opening minute of the second period, Pat Falloon's PPG gave the Flyers a 3-1 advantage and were quickly on another advantage when Rob Zamuner (2-0-2) scored a SHG. Zamuner added another goal later in the period and the score was tied 3-3 through two periods despite a 32-16 Flyers' shot advantage. Eric Lindros gave Philly a 4-3 lead early in the third period. Jeff Reese made 38 saves as a replacement for the injured Daren Puppa (back spasms). The Flyers outshot the Lightning 42-32 but TB had all four OT shots. Attendance in the Thunderdome was an NHL-record 25,945 (broken the next game). Prior to the game, Michel Petit of Tampa Bay said "To give hits, you've got to be able to take hits. And that's their (Flyers) problem. They can't take hits. Every time they get hit, they complain, you know." April 23, 1996 -- In Game 4 in St. Petersburg, John LeClair (2-0-2), who missed most of Game 2 and all of Game 3 with a sprained left ankle, scored two PPGs in an important 4-1 road win which tied the series 2-2. LeClair, who skated in the Philadelphia area while his team played Game 3 at Tampa Bay, flew to Florida the day prior to Game 4. LeClair gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead 7:56 into the game and was chosen the game's top star. Less than five minutes later, Joel Otto made it 2-0 then Dale Hawerchuk made it 3-1 late in the second period with Mikael Renberg (0-2-2) assisting on both goals. Philly outshot Tampa Bay 33-22. Starting goalie Daren Puppa once again did not play for the Lightning due to back spasms. The game was played in front of the NHL's largest crowd ever (since broken) 28,183 in the Thunderdome. April 25, 1996 -- In Game 5 in Philly, special teams dominated (the PP was 3-for-13 and the PK was 9-for-9) and Ron Hextall made 23 saves in the Flyers' 4-1 win. Four different Flyers scored and Eric Desjardins (0-2-2) had two assists. Eric Lindros knocked off the helmet of Igor Ulanov then bloodied Michel Petit with thunderous checks in about a 30-second span to which John LeClair later said "Eric definitely got us going. He really took charge with those two big hits." Petit missed the rest of the first period and the early part of the second period with a bloodied nose. Mikael Renberg's PPG gave Philly a 1-0 lead 15 seconds after Rudy Poeschek, who subbed for the flu-ridden Roman Hamrlik and had five minors in the game, cut Dan Quinn with a high stick to which Terry Murray later called "deliberate." Shjon Podein made it 2-0 early in the second period. Pat Falloon and LeClair scored PPGs in the first 2:43 of the third period to increase the lead to 4-0. Falloon's goal came 1:21 into the third period during a double minor to Jason Weimer called late in the second period. LeClair's goal came 14 seconds after a double minor to Poeschek called for charging and slashing Lindros. Shawn Antoski picked up 19 PIMs (nothing to TB) 6:07 into the third period with a double minor, a match penalty and an ejection when he jumped Petit off a faceoff. David Shaw nullified part of the long man-advantage with 9:21 to play when he ran Hextall and got a goalie interference minor. Hextall was 2:01 from a shutout when John Cullen beat him on a SHG. April 27, 1996 -- In Game 6 in St. Petersburg, Bob Corkum (1-2-3) was the game's top star and Ron Hextall made 27 saves in the Flyers' 6-1 elimination of the Lightning. The Flyers won 24 of 25 faceoffs in the middle period. Six players scored for the Flyers and five had multi-point efforts. Karl Dykhuis (1-1-2) and Shawn Antoski (1-1-2, +4), who scored within 55 seconds of each other, gave Philly a 2-0 lead. Trent Klatt (1-1-2), the game's number two star, made it 3-1 in the first period. Shjon Podein was ejected in the opening minute of the second period for high-sticking Shawn Burr whichh resulted in a broken nose. Rod Brind'Amour (0-2-2) had two assists. October 31, 1996 -- Trent Klatt (2-0-2) scored twice in the third period as the Flyers rallied from a 3-0 hole to win 4-3 in their first visit to the Ice Palace (which opened October 20th) in Tampa. The Lightning led 3-0 in the first period, scoring twice in 12 seconds and three times in under six minutes, and held that lead with less than five minutes left in the second period. However, Mikael Renberg (1-1-2) and Scott Daniels (1-1-2) scored 35 seconds apart and assisted on the other's goal to bring the Flyers within a goal. Klatt tied the game 20 seconds into the third period. Ron Hextall made 25 saves and was a perfect 12-for-12 in the third period when Tampa Bay outshot Philly 12-6. January 9, 1997 -- Corey Schwab made 30 saves and Tampa Bay ended three streaks with a 3-1 road win. The Lightning won a regular season game in Philadelphia for the first time (ninth game) in the franchise's history and snapped the Flyers unbeaten streak at 17 games (14-0-3). Eric Lindros' attempt to tie Bobby Clarke's 1975 team-record of 18 straight games with a point was also stopped (Lindros did tie it in 1999). Dino Ciccarelli scored with under seven minutes left to break a 1-1 tie and Tampa Bay added an ENG. Kjell Samuelsson missed the remainder of the regular season with a pinched nerve in his neck and a shoulder injury, which required surgery to repair a ruptured disc a week later. February 20, 1997 -- Rick Tabaracci made 28 saves and Daymond Langkow (1-1-2) and Chris Gratton (1-1-2) had two points in a 5-2 Tampa Bay home win. The Lightning had a 3-2 lead late in the opening period and then killed a double minor to Cory Cross which carried over into the second period. Ron Hextall made 35 saves in the loss. Tampa Bay outshot the Flyers 40-30.
April 1, 1997 -- Rod Brind'Amour's PPG midway through the third period gave Philly a 1-1 home tie. Ron Hextall made 22 saves. Chris Gratton scored for the Lightning in the second period. Daren Puppa made 32 saves. The Lightning did not record a shot on goal in the third period until 2:20 remained.
August 20, 1997 -- Philly sent Mikael Renberg and Karl Dykhuis to the Lightning in exchange for the Flyers' first round picks in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 which were originally sent to the Lightning as part of the Flyers' August 12 offer sheet for Group 2 free agent Chris Gratton (5 years at $16.5m). The offer sheet was sent to the Lightning offices at 10:03 P.M. However, the next day, the Lightning traded Gratton to Chicago for two players (rumors included Eric Daze, Ethan Moreau, Steve Dubuinsky and Keith Carney) and cash. Lightning GM Phil Esposito claimed that the offer sheet signing was invalid due to a smudged fax which made the numbers on the paper improperly visible. Eventually, an arbiter ruled the offer sheet valid and Gary Bettman said ''The sands of the hourglass...Chicago and Tampa Bay just ran out of time" saying the offer sheet came prior to the trade. At that point, the Lightning decided not to match the Flyers' offer sheet and the agreed deal was Gratton for Renberg and Dykhuis. Prior to the offer sheet signing, Esposito reportedly offered Gratton $10 million over five seasons then $8.45 million over three seasons.
October 21, 1997 -- Eric Lindros (1-4-5) scored his 200th career goal and added four assists, linemate Vaclav Prospal (2-2-4) had four points and the Flyers scored three times in the first 8:22 en route to a 7-1 home win. Lindros, Prospal and Janne Niinimaa (1-2-3) combined for 12 points, seven of which came by the 8:22 mark including three assists by Lindros. Prospal, who replaced an injured Danius Zubrus, on a line with Lindros and John LeClair said "He (Zubrus) earned it by playing well last year. He was playing great this season before getting hurt. I am just happy I am playing. It's a right wing postiion and I am a centerman (but) I do not mind as long as I am in the lineup. But if I was to stay up there and every game was to be like this, that would be great, but it's (Zubrus') spot and I am just filling in." The Flyers' PP went 3-for-8. November 16, 1997 -- Rod Brind'Amour (2-0-2) scored twice in the third period, including the GWG with one minute remaining, in a 3-2 home win. Alexander Selivanov (2-0-2) gave Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead in the opening seven minutes with goals scored within 39 seconds. The Lightning fell to 0-14-1 in their last 15 games. November 29, 1997 -- The teams skated to a 3-3 tie at Tampa Bay. The Lightning's Rob Zamuner, chosen the same day for the 1998 Canadian Olympic Team, scored in the opening minute of the third period which finished the scoring. Dainius Zubris gave Philly a 2-1 lead just 10 seconds into the second period. Philly outshot the Lightning 15-2 in the first and 7-1 in OT; the final total was 35-26. January 11, 1998 -- Ron Hextall made 35 saves and Trent Klatt (2-1-3) scored two PPGs in a 5-2 road win. Chris Gratton (1-1-2) had two points. Chris Therien (1-1-2) scored an ENG, his first goal in 112 regular season games. Steve Kelly scored his first goal of the season to bring Tampa Bay to within 4-2 but was then given a four-minute minor for spearing (Eric Desjardins picked up two minutes for roughing). April 8, 1998 -- In a game remembered for what happened off the ice as much as during the game, the Flyers out-scored Tampa Bay 5-0 in the third period en route to a 6-1 road win. John LeClair (2-0-2) scored twice and Mike Sillinger (1-1-2) had two points. The five goals were scored in a span of 11:05 and each goal came from a different player. The Flyers last three goals came on PPs in a span of 5:09; the team was 3-for-7 in the game compared to Tampa Bay's 0-for-3. With 6:31 to play, Andrei Nazarov was ejected after he cut Daniel Lacroix during a brawl and the two players plus Darcy Tucker earned fighting majors which led to a 5-minute Flyers' PP (two goals scored) and included five misconducts and 69 PIMs, 42 which was assessed to Tampa Bay ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaEZ-jVr9vk ). Eric Lindros, who did not play, and other Flyers confronted Nazarov in the parking lot outside the arena following the game due to what was perceived as a sucker punch by Nazarov against Lacroix who received 48 stitches around his left eye and missed the next four games. Lindros said "What he (Nazarov) did was gutless, the incident won't be forgotten." Nazarov said "There were six of them, and I thought they might try to jump me. They could have. It would have been one against six. I told them to save it for the ice. If you want me, come and get me on the ice." October 16, 1998 -- John LeClair (3-0-3) had a natural hat trick and Eric Lindros (1-2-3) had three points in the Flyers' 5-2 win at Tampa Bay. LeClair's hat trick was the eighth of his career and gave him 20 goals in 28 career games against the Lightning. Ron Hextall stopped 24 shots for his 231st victory for the Flyers, which moved him within one win of tying Bernie Parent for first place on the team's win list. Daren Puppa made 31 saves and Mikael Renberg had two assists.
December 12, 1998 -- Mikael Renberg and Daymond Langkow were traded to the Flyers for Chris Gratton and Mike Sillinger. Bob Clarke said of the trade "Gratton obviously wasn't having a lot of success on the wing (switched from center) with us. We were trying to get something out of him at a position in which he wasn't comfortable. So, we made the trade. With Renberg, we'll get more production out of him. We were getting nothing out of Sillinger and Langkow is a more productive and younger player."
December 20, 1998 --Ron Hextall (28 saves) and Bill Ranford (30 saves) were named among the top three stars and shined in OT in a 2-2 tie at Philly. The Flyers outshot Tampa Bay 32-30, including 5-4 in the OT. Rod Brind'Amour (1-1-2) had two points and helped give Philly a 2-0 lead. Sandy McCarthy snapped the shutout with under two minutes left in the second period and Wendel Clark made it 2-2 it in the third period.
December 28, 1998 -- The teams exchanged defensemen when Karl Dykhuis was sent to Philadelphia and Petr Svoboda was traded to Tampa Bay. In his first game, at Calgary, Dykhuis suffered a fractured sinus cavity when hit with a stick. He flew back to Philadelphia for examination but when surgery was deemed unnecessary, he rejoined the team in Edmonton after missing one game in Vancouver.
January 30, 1999 -- Rod Brind'Amour set the tone by scoring twice in the first 12:55 and the Flyers skated to a 6-2 home win. Philly dominated the opening 20 minutes with a 3-0 lead and a 20-2 shots advantage. The Flyers scored twice on a 5-minute elbowing major to Cory Cross for their second and third goals. Dan McGillis (1-2-3), who had all his points in the opening period, John LeClair (2-1-3) and Eric Lindros (0-3-3) each had three points. The Legion of Doom (Lindros, LeClair and Mikael Renberg) line had 19 shots on goal. Ron Hextall made 19 saves. The Flyers held a 44-21 shots advantage. Corey Schwab made 38 saves.
February 26, 1999 -- Stephane Richer (2-0-2) scored twice in the first period and Corey Schwab made 32 saves in Tampa Bay's 4-1 home win. Schwab held the Flyers scoreless until Eric Desjardins' PPG with 2:47 remained. The Flyers had a 37-20 shots advantage and 33-12 over the last two periods. Vinnie Lecavalier assisted on both goals in the first period and helped give Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead 10 seconds after exiting the penalty box. The victory ended the Lightning's 10-game skid in this series (0-7-3).

November 22, 1999 --The Flyers held an opponent without a shot in a period for the first time in team history but dropped a 4-1 decision at Tampa Bay. The Lightning were outshot 17-0 in the second period and 31-17 in the game. Zac Bierk made 30 saves and Chris Gratton (1-2-3) had three points. Stan Drulia's first period goal held up through two periods. Petr Svoboda (1-1-2) gave Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead with 3:34 to play, a 5-on-3 goal. Dan McGillis had a slight break in the first metatarsal bone after blocking a shot by Gratton and would miss the next four games.
December 18, 1999 -- Brian Boucher made 29 saves and recorded his first NHL shutout and John LeClair (2-0-2) scored twice in a 4-0 home win. Ulf Samuelsson, who missed the prior four games with a shoulder injury, scored his first goal as a Flyers to make it 1-0. Lightning goalie Dan Cloutier (4 saves, 5 shots) was replaced by Kevin Hodson (21 saves, 24 shots) at the 7:00 mark then slammed his stick against the wall of the runway leading to the locker room. March 8, 2000 -- Eric Desjardins scored a PPG with 1:11 left in OT and the Flyers skated to a 3-2 win at Tampa Bay. Robert Petrovicky was called for hooking Mark Eaton while both were racing for the puck on a possible delayed icing call setting up the PP. Mark Recchi (0-3-3) assisted on all three goals and John Vanbiesbrouck made 25 saves. Tampa Bay played its 14th OT game of the season and had yet to win (0-7-7). Mike Sillinger and Chris Gratton gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Flyers held a 15-4 shots advantage in the second period and Eric Lindros and John LeClair scored, the latter with 4.8 seconds remaining. Dan Cloutier made 36 saves. Earlier in the day, the Flyers acquired Rick Tocchet from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Mikael Renberg.
December 6, 2000 -- John LeClair (3-0-3) snapped a tie with 3:40 to play and then completed his 10th career hat trick 1:16 later in Philly's 6-3 home win. Dan McGillis, Rick Tocchet and Daymond Langkow each had two assists. "(Rick Tocchet)Toc went hard to the net, paid the price and lost some teeth in the process," LeClair said of Tocchet, who picked up his 500th career assist on the goal. Brian Boucher made 20 stops. Mark Recchi fought Petr Svoboda in the late second period. The Flyers led 3-1 after two periods but the Lightning rallied to tie the game 3-3. Philly outshot TB 40-23. Dan Cloutier made 34 saves.
December 28, 2000 -- Martin St. Louis and Fredrik Modin scored twice and Kevin Weekes made 32 saves in Tampa Bay's 4-3 home win. Bill Barber tasted his first defeat as an NHL coach after a start of 5-0-3-0, the second best beginning for any NHL coach ever. "I don't mind what happened tonight. I'm a very happy guy and not just for the run we've been on, but the play of our players. We were a little short tonight and maybe we'll be shorter the next game, it really doesn't matter. The players played hard tonight from a fan's standpoint. I almost got wrapped up into being a fan tonight, it was that good of a hockey game -- up and down action, agressive hockey and all the other stuff that goes with it," said Barber. The Flyers outshot the Lightning 35-18 including 12-2 in the third. Tampa Bay led 3-1 after the first period and never trailed in the game. There were three fights in the game including Ruslan Fedotenko-Cory Sarich with 1:09 to play in the contest.
January 12, 2001 -- Roman Cechmanek made 21 saves and Keith Primeau (1-1-2), Dan McGillis (1-1-2) and Mark Recchi (0-2-2) had two points in the Flyers' 3-0 win at Tampa Bay. Primeau also won 18 of 25 faceoffs. Cechmanek improved to 8-0-3 (W-L-T) in his last eleven decisions. Ruslan Fedotenko scored the GWG with 8:56 left in the first period. Dan Cloutier made 31 saves.
February 24, 2001 -- Roman Cechmanek made 36 saves and Kevin Weekes stopped 27 shots in a scoreless tie in Philadelphia. The result was the seventh 0-0 score in Flyers' history and the first for Tampa Bay. It was the second straight time the Flyers shutout the Lightning, both by Cechmanek. Tampa Bay was 0-for-9 on the PP. The Flyers were issued five straight minors in the second period (seven consecutive) and when they were finally given a PP, it lasted 32 seconds until another minor was called. Within those minors, were three whistled against the Flyers (two to Todd Fedoruk and one to P.J. Stock) at the same time (none to Tampa Bay). In that disadvantage, the Flyers held the Lightning without a shot on a 2-minute 5-on-3 advantage and one shot during the subsequent 2-minute 5-on-4. Simon Gagne, who led the team with 27 goals at the time, missed the next 12 games after he suffered a partially dislocated left shoulder near the end of the second period from being slammed into the boards by Andrei Zyuzin who then punched Gagne in the face. Gagne's retaliatory punch missed and he fell on the shoulder. "The battle came one-on-one with him. I tried to grab him with my right hand, and he grabbed me first on my left. I lost it and came flat with my left shoulder, and that's when I felt my shoulder go out too far," said Gagne.
November 8, 2001 -- Brian Boucher made 22 saves and Ruslan Fedotenko and Tomas Divisek scored in Philly's 2-1 win in Tampa. First star honors went to Divisek, who was on the roster from November 5-12, and recorded the GWG, the only goal of his NHL career. Nikolai Khabibulin made 33 saves in the loss.
December 1, 2001 -- Roman Cechmanek made 15 saves and Jeremy Roenick and Eric Desjardins scored in the Flyers' 2-0 home win. The Flyers outshot Tampa Bay 42-15. Kevin Weekes made 40 saves in the loss. Tampa Bay was held to one goal in the last four games against the Flyers.
March 8, 2002 -- Chris Therien snapped a 2-2 tie in the third period in Philly's 4-2 victory at Tampa Bay. Therien and Justin Williams each had a goal and an assist. Eric Weinrich tied the game 2-2 in the middle period. Vinnie Prospal had two points for TB. Brian Boucher made 20 saves for the win. The Flyers outshot the Lightning 28-26 including 11-5 in the third period.
March 18, 2002 -- The Flyers opened the second period with three goals in the first 10:49, including two by Donald Brashear, the first which came 29 seconds after Eric Desjardins made it 1-0, but failed to hold on in a 3-3 home tie. Jiri Dopita assisted on all three goals. Sheldon Keefe completed the tie with 1:36 remaining in regulation. Dieter Kochan made 38 saves for the Lightning in his first start of the season. Injuries to top centers Jeremy Roenick (hyperextended knee, out seven games) and Keith Primeau (bruised ribs on a hit by Shane Willis, out two games) forced the Flyers into altering their roster at the trade deadline the following day when the team, acquired Adam Oates (from Washington), the NHL's season leader in assists and fourth in scoring.
June 21, 2002 -- Ruslan Fedotenko and two picks were traded to the Lightning for a first rounder. August 14, 2002 -- Hall of Famer Bill Barber was named Tampa Bay's Director of Player Personnel.
November 19, 2002 --Simon Gagne (1-1-2), Jeremy Roenick and John LeClair scored and Roman Cechmanek made 17 saves in Philly's 3-2 win at Tampa Bay. The Flyers killed six out of seven Lightning PPs. Philly held a 28-11 shots edge after two periods and a 32-19 shots advantage in the game. Gagne's goal was his first in twleve games.
January 18, 2003 -- Michal Handzus snapped a 2-2 tie in the third period and the Flyers recorded a 3-2 home win. Kim Johnsson, Mark Recchi and Simon Gagne each had two points. The Flyers entered the game last of 30 teams in PP efficiency but scored twice with a man advantage. The Flyers held a 24-14 shots advantage including 17-8 through two periods. The Flyers improved to 9-0-4 in 13 games against the Lightning in Philadelphia. Justin Williams suffered a 90% tear of the ACL and a partial tear of the MCL in his left knee after being checked into the boards by Brad Lukowich. Williams, after conferring with medical personnel, decided to have immediate surgery and missed the next 36 games (he did not return until the regular season finale).
January 28, 2003 -- John Grahame defeated the Flyers for the first time in his career (1-2-2) as he made 34 stops in Tampa Bay's 3-0 win in Philly. Martin St. Louis and Fredrik Modin each had two points. The Lightning scored in each period. Tampa Bay's win was just the second in 23 regular season visits to Philadelphia. Afterwards, Flyers' head coach Ken Hitchcock blasted his team's performance "One team was ready to win and willing to pay the price and the other was wanting to win but not willing to pay the price. We were guilty of the second part. They won all the battles for pucks, they checked harder than we did and they came in and played a great road game against us. We had too many passengers today. We had players who didn't want to compete at the level of the game. That's disappointing."
April 4, 2003 -- Simon Gagne scored twice in Philly's 4-1 win at Tampa Bay. Gagne played in his second game since returning from a 13-game absence due to a groin injury. Tony Amonte and Kim Johnsson added two assists each. Roman Cechmanek made 27 saves. Nikolai Khababulin was removed after surrendering four goals on 17 shots in 40 minutes. The Flyers set a franchise record with their 23rd road win of the season.
December 18, 2003 -- Martin St. Louis (2-1-3) scored the tying and winning goals in the Lightning's 5-4 OT win in Philly. The Flyers rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before going ahead 4-3. February 2, 2004 -- Tampa Bay scored on the team's first two shots against goalie Neil Little in a span of 1:42 and recorded a 2-1 win in Philly. Starting goalie Robert Esche was injured in a collision with Simon Gagne near the Flyers' goal at 2:48 of the second period and stayed in the game for the next 1:35. Esche suffered a sprained left knee which kept him sidelined until February 28. This was Little's lone NHL appearance of the season and one of two in his career.
February 17, 2004 -- Tampa Bay swept the season series with a 5-2 win at home. Brad Richards (GWG, 1-2-3) and Cory Stillman (1-2-3) led the offense. The Flyers were outshot 36-19. Sean Burke made 31 saves in the loss. There were 14 PIMs in the game, seven minors.
May 8, 2004 -- In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Tampa Bay won 3-1 in front a sellout crowd of 21,425 at home. Dave Andreychuk scored the game's first goal, in the second period. Moments after Sami Kapanen's apparent goal was disallowed, on a goalie interference call against Keith Primeau, Michal Handzus evened the game but Brad Richards' restored Tampa Bay's lead later in the second period. Chris Dingman gave Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead in the third period. Fredrik Modin and Cory Stillman assisted on the Lightning's first two goals. Philly outshot Tampa Bay 20-17. The Lightning had eight days off since they eliminated Montreal.
May 10, 2004 -- In Game 2, Robert Esche earned top star status by making 29 saves in Philly's 6-2 victory at Tampa Bay which ended the Lightning's eight-game PO winning streak. Marcus Ragnarsson, the game's number two star, had a game-high three (0-3-3) points and six different scorers gave the Flyers a 6-0 lead. John LeClair scored 1:53 into the game, his first goal of the playoffs in his 13th game. Sami Kapanen scored a huge SHG 2:27 after Mark Recchi's PPG (which snapped an 0-for-18 skid) gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead. May 13, 2004 -- In Game 3, Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 24 shots and backed Tampa Bay to a 4-1 win in Philadelphia. The Lightning scored twice in a span of 2:24 the first period and that lead held through two periods. Keith Primeau scored 36 seconds into the third period but Vincent Lecavalier followed with a breakaway goal 43 seconds later. Marcus Ragnarsson was struck on the left index finger by a stick during a follow-through of a shot by Tampa Bay's Fredrik Modin in the first period and was lost for the balance of the post-season. May 15, 2004 -- In Game 4, Keith Primeau received first-star honors and Robert Esche made 28 saves in the Flyers' 3-2 victory. John LeClair and Mark Recchi scored in a span of 85 seconds late in the opening period to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead. Primeau had two points, including an unassisted SHG which gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead; he also won 19 of 28 faceoffs. Tampa Bay went 2-for-7 on the PP, including one by Vinnie Lecavalier in the last minute of regulation. Vladimir Malakhov played over 30 minutes for the Flyers. Ruslan Fedotenko's PPG followed by Brad Richards' (2-0-2) two PPGs, the last of which came three seconds into the man-advantage, gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead 7:12 into the second period. Goals by Michal Handzus and Patrick Sharp within 38 seconds got Philly within 3-2 at the 9:34 mark of the middle period. The Flyers outshot the Lightning 15-6 in the last period but Tim Taylor's ENG with 15 seconds to play made it 4-2. Dave Andreychuk had two assists. May 20, 2004 -- In Game 6, the Flyers recorded one of the most dramatic victories in team history with a 5-4 OT win in Philadelphia. May 22, 2004 -- In Game 7, Nikolai Khababulin made 22 saves and Ruslan Fedotenko and Brad Richards scored to lead Tampa Bay to the Stanley Cup Finals with a 2-1 home win. Fedotenko scored a PPG late in the first period after the Flyers failed on two man-advantages, the team's only chances of the game (TB was 1-for-2). Kim Johnsson scored midway into the contest for the Flyers only goal. Robert Esche made 30 saves. The Lightning outshot Philly 32-23. The Flyers' bruised blueline included Vladimir Malakhov, Danny Markov, Kim Johnsson and Mattias Timander with Dennis Seidenberg and Joni Pitkanen combining for less than 18 minutes. November 14, 2005 -- Vinnie Prospal (3-1-4) had a hat trick and the GWG, and John Grahame made 22 saves in Tampa Bay's 5-2 home win. Vincent Lecavalier (0-3-3) had three assists. Peter Forsberg scored twice and the second goal tied the game 2-2.
November 22, 2005 -- Sean Burke made 30 saves and Tim Taylor and Rob DiMaio had multiple-point games in Tampa Bay's 4-2 win at Philly. Vinnie Lecavalier had a tough outing with a game-high five giveaways, one shot, no points and just two faceoff wins on 10 tries. Michal Handzus won 14 of 19 faceoffs. Peter Forsberg played in his 600th NHL game. R.J. Umberger scored his first NHL goal.
January 28, 2006 -- Fredrik Modin scored a natural hat trick over three periods and Sean Burke stopped all 38 shots in the Lightning's 6-0 victory in Philly. Pavel Kubina had three assists. Tampa Bay went 3-for-9 on the PP. The Flyers were without Peter Forsberg (groin), Keith Primeau (concussion), Eric Desjardins (shoulder) and Branko Radivojevic (ankle) and then Kim Johnsson, who returned after missing three games with concussion-like symptoms, left because of dizziness and missed the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
March 17, 2006 -- Ryan Craig scored twice and John Grahame made 28 saves in leading Tampa Bay to a 6-3 home win. Tampa Bay scored three PPGs and ended the game with a SHG. The Flyers led 1-0 but the Lightning scored the next four before the Flyers got within 4-3. Vinny Lecavalier then faked a shot, circled the net and beat Robert Esche with 1:43 to play and was subsequently leveled by Denis Gauthier. Lecavalier retaliated and was given a 2, 5, 10 and an ejection (Gauthier was not penalized). Derian Hatcher was tossed in the early third on a boarding major.
October 19, 2006 -- Marc Denis made 34 saves in the Lightning's 4-1 home win. Vaclav Prospal (1-1-2), Brad Richards (0-2-2)and Vincent Lecavalier (0-2-2)each had two points. The game was scoreless until Ryan Craig scored near the midway point. Tampa Bay outshot Philly 36-35. November 2, 2006 -- Johan Holmqvist made 30 saves and Martin St. Louis (2-1-3) and Vinnie Lecavalier (1-2-3) combined for six points in Tampa Bay's 5-2 win in Philly. Holmqvist earned his first NHL win, six years after his NHL debut -- the second longest such streak in NHL history (Frederic Chabot). The Lightning won in this series for the tenth straight time in the regular season which tied the second longest win streak ever by a team against Philadelphia (Boston once won 15 straight and the Rangers once won 10 in a row). Jeff Carter missed the next 20 games as he suffered a fracture of the left tibia (ankle) and did not return until mid-December.
December 28, 2006 --Simon Gagne scored twice, Peter Forsberg had three assists (for the 46th time) and Robert Esche made 42 saves as the Flyers snapped two lengthy skids with a 4-3 road win. Philly entered the game losers in ten straight games (including nine straight in regulation). March 6, 2008 -- Jeff Carter (2-0-2), the game's top star, scored with 1:54 remaining in regulation and Martin Biron made 18 saves in the Flyers' 3-2 home win. Tampa Bay had won the last eight regular season games played in Philadelphia. The Flyers held a 7-2 shots advantage in the third period and 25-20 overall. Jussi Jokinen (1-1-2) gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead 0:31 into the game but goals by Daniel Briere and Carter put Philly on top 2-1 after one period. Philly played without Simon Gagne, Mike Richards and Joffrey Lupul. Riley Cote, the game's #3 star, and Andre Roy fought in the first period and had a return engagement in the second period in which Roy was decked. Roy got into a heated exchange with his head coach John Tortorella while on the bench and didn't play the remainder of the game. During his tirade from the bench, Roy made a cutting gesture to his throat while reportedly yelling "You're (expletive) dead" at Cote. December 2, 2008 -- Mike Richards' PPG in OT, off a brilliant feed by Kimmo Timonen, gave Philly a 4-3 home win. "Kimmo and I had talked a little bit before the game just about special teams and what we wanted to do. He actually drew that play up 5-on-3, but 5-on-4 was kind of the same thing. Bring the attention to him (Timonen). Then some guy took (Simon) Gagne backdoor, and I just walked into it. He made a great pass and I shot as hard as I could," said Richards. December 23, 2009 -- Blair Betts (2-0-2) and Mike Richards (2-1-3) each scored twice and the Flyers ended a 4-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory at Tampa Bay. The Flyers entered the game with a 3-13-1 mark in the last 17 games. With netmiders Ray Emery and Brian Boucher sidelined, Michael Leighton started and made 31 saves in his first start for the Flyers since February 2007. Simon Gagne became the 13th player to record 500 points as a Flyer, in his 626th NHL game, with a first period assist on Claude Giroux's PPG, the only tally in the first two periods. Scott Hartnell snapped a 17-game scoreless drought and made it 2-0 early in the third. October 14, 2010 --Dan Ellis made 24 saves and Steven Stamkos, Dominic Moore and Paval Kubina scored in Tampa Bay's 3-2 win at Philly. During the first period, a video tribute honoring ex-Flyer Simon Gagne was shown to which he later said "I wanted to cry. I had to stop watching (the video) a couple of times. A lot of emotion. Everything started here. They showed my first goal and all the big goals. It's still hard to think about. They're always going to be in my heart." November 18, 2010 -- Steven Stamkos (3-1-4, third career hat trick), Martin St. Louis (0-5-5, one assist shy of the most by an opponent against the Flyers) and Nate Thompson, who scored the lone third period goal, led the Lightning to an 8-7 win at Philadelphia. The Flyers led 2-0 at the 5:03 mark with goals 42 seconds apart, then Tampa Bay scored twice in 16 seconds to make it 2-2. The Lightning ended the first period scoring 14 seconds after the Flyers went ahead 5-3. The nine goals in one period tied a Flyers' team record (done three other times) and it was the first time two NHL teams had combined for nine goals in a period since Montreal (6) and Quebec (3) on December 17, 1992. The other instances of nine goals in a period involving the Flyers: March 21, 1973 (Flyers 8, Islanders 1 in the second period); January 11, 1974 (Flyers 5, Atlanta Flames 4 in the second period) and February 25, 1984 (Hartford 5, Flyers 4 in the first period). Philly led 7-5 in the second period, the team's third two-goal lead, but the Lightning's Steve Downie scored 14 seconds later to make it 7-6. Stamkos' PPG with 1:01 to play in the second tied the game 7-7. It was the first NHL game since February 27, 1982 (Flyers beat Calgary 9-8) in which teams were tied 7-7 after two periods. February 15, 2011 -- In a matchup of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference, the Flyers recorded a 4-3 win at Tampa Bay by winning the shootout 2-1. Kimmo Timonen scored in the seventh round then Brian Boucher, who made 24 saves, stopped Martin St. Louis to seal the victory. Dominic Moore scored in the second round, Mike Richards' do-or-die attempt tied it, then Boucher stopped Adam Hall extending the shootout. Both teams failed to score in the extended shootout until Timonen gave the Flyers the advantage. In the first period, James van Riemsdyk (1-1-2) fought Randy Jones then 29 seconds after the penalties expired scored the game's first goal. November 9, 2011 -- Brett Connolly scored 2:30 into OT in Tampa Bay's 2-1 home win. Marc-Andre Bergeron evened the score in the third period. Scott Hartnell gave Philly a 1-0 lead midway in the second period. Dwayne Roloson made 14 saves. The Lightning held a 24-15 shots advantage, including 11-5 in the third period and OT. March 26, 2012 -- Dwayne Roloson made 35 saves and Martin St. Louis (1-1-2) snapped a 2-2 tie early in the third period of the Lightning's 5-3 victory in Philly. Ryan Malone (SHG) and Steven Stamkos (PPG with 1.4 seconds to play) made it 2-0 in the first period but the Flyers rallied with two goals in the second period including one by Wayne Simmonds his first in the last 17 games. Michael Leighton played his first game for the Flyers since the 2011 NHL Playoffs. Sean Couturier gave Philly a 1-0 lead in the game's opening minute. February 5, 2013 -- Tom Sestito (2-0-2) scored twice in the Flyers' 2-1 home win. Sestito last scored December 23, 2010 when he was with Columbus. Ilya Bryzgalov, called "outstanding" by head coach Peter Laviolette, made 21 saves and was beaten only by Benoit Pouliot, who was alone in the slot. Less than two minutes later, Sestito scored again. Terrific team defense helped shut down many of the Lightning's top guns. Tampa Bay was 0-for-4 on PPs including two in the last five minutes, though the latter was only for 14 seconds prior to the game's end. November 27, 2013 -- Victor Hedman (2-1-3) had points on the first three goals in Tampa Bay's 4-2 home win. The Lightning scored twice in the second period and extended the lead to 3-0 in the third period. The Flyers cut their deficit to 3-2 with two goals in the last two minutes of regulation. Vinnie Lecavalier, who was chosen the game's number two star, made his first visit to Tampa Bay as an opposing player and scored the Flyers' first goal with 1:53 to play. Mark Streit scored his first goal with the Flyers 40 seconds later with 1:13 to play. An ENG sealed the victory. Anders Lindback made 19 saves including stopping Wayne Simmonds' penalty shot in the first period. Ray Emery made 31 saves.
January 11, 2014 -- The Lightning ended the Flyers' 10-game home win streak with a 6-3 victory. Anders Lindback made 35 saves, Valtteri Filppula (1-1-2, +3) was named the game's top star, Ryan Malone (2-0-2) scored twice (ENG) and Matt Carle (0-2-2) was a +6 in the win. Steve Mason (12 saves, 17 shots) was replaced by Ray Emery (7 saves, 7 shots).
April 11, 2014 -- Anders Lindback made 34 saves and Tampa Bay scored three times in the third period of a 4-2 home win. Tyler Johnson scored 2:00 into the game. Richard Panic gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead and Steven Stamkos' PPG with 5:46 to play made it 4-2. It was the Flyers' sixth straight loss at Tampa Bay.
October 30, 2014 -- Steven Stamkos (2-1-3) scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 46 seconds left in the second period, and Valtteri Filppula (0-3-3) had three assists in Tampa Bay's 4-3 home win. Ben Bishop made 24 saves. The Lightning went 2-for-5 on PPs including Jason Garrison's goal which made it 4-2 late in regulation.
December 16, 2014 -- Andrei Vasilevskiy made 23 saves in his NHL debut and Steven Stamkos and Tyler Johnson scored in the second period of Tampa Bay's 3-1 win at Philly. Vasilevskiy was promoted that morning after an injury the prior night to Ben Bishop. Peter Forsberg was honored prior to the game for making the Hockey Hall of Fame.

2015-2019:

January 12, 2015 -- The Flyers snapped a 6-game losing streak in this series with an emphatic 7-3 home win. Seven different players scored and 14 registered points led by Mark Streit (1-2-3). Robb Zepp made 21 saves to improve his career NHL record to 2-0-0. Evgeni Nabokov (9 saves, 13 shots) was replaced by Ben Bishop (9 saves, 12 shots) 2:36 into the second period with the Flyers ahead 4-1. For the fifth time in team history, the Flyers outscored an opponent 5-1 in the second period (the most recent time was 1988). The Flyers led 7-1 through two periods. The Flyers' PP was 3-4 including three goals in the second period. The fifth and sixth goals were scored during a double minor to Matt Carle, the latter came on a 5-on-3. Tampa Bay was 2-3 on PPs. Three players were injured not to return: Braydon Coburn (PHI), Tyler Johnson (TB) and Victor Hedman (TB). Entering the game, the Flyers had a 16-19-7 record while Tampa Bay owned a 27-12-4 mark.
March 2, 2015 -- Tampa Bay acquired Braydon Coburn for Radko Gudas, a 2015 first round pick (traded to Toronto during the draft in order to move up five spots and draft Travis Konecny) and a 2015 third round pick (Matej Tomek).
October 8, 2015 -- Jason Garrison scored twice in Tampa Bay's 3-2 home win which ended the first scheduled 3-on-3 OT in NHL history. The Flyers had two penalty shots for the first time in team history but failed on each including one in OT by Scott Laughton. Claude Giroux was stopped in the first period. Dave Hakstol made his debut as Flyers' head coach. Prior to the game, the Lightning raised a banner for their 2015 Eastern Conference Championship.
