I felt pretty good. I think anytime you're out for that long you just want to feel the puck and make the plays you normally make.
For the most part I felt I did that. It was a good start.
- Marc Staal

It's a good feeling to end the year. It's been up-and-down, no question.
We've talked about it so many times now, but we continue building both as a group and also for myself here.
Let's enjoy the new year tonight and then get back to work in a couple of days.
- Henrik Lundqvist

We're 1 game above .500. We need to get better.
- Alain Vigneault

So Cally back? If so who sits? d Moore? Also dz in for j. Moore?

Since we are winning atm, honestly I'd prefer if no one sits. The top6 are a lock, unless AV decides to go bonkers and put Cally on the 1st line instead of Zucc, move Zucc to third line and Pouliot down to 4th. Then sit Moore and make a Boyle - Dorsett - Pouliot 4th line.

I'm actually not hugely opposed to see Zucc with Miller, kids been good lately.

Most likely though he'll just give Callahan Pouliots slot and sit Moore.

AV would of course not move the team´s leader in points and assists down.
But maybe we´ll se the Kreiderello line back?

OK, we won a game Sunday. And we won again Tuesday. That's called "two in a row". And if we win again today, it's called a "winning streak"... It has happened before!

The Penguins game notes are terrifying.
TONIGHT’S GAME
-Pittsburgh enters tonight’s game having won nine of its past 11 games and 14 of its past 17 contests.
-The Penguins have won 18 of their last 24 games dating back to Nov. 15. During that stretch, only four teams have defeated Pittsburgh (Boston, 2; New Jersey, 2; Ottawa; Montreal).
-The Penguins enter tonight’s game having won 10 straight home games dating back to Nov. 15. With a win tonight, they will equal the second-longest home win streak in franchise history.
-The Philadelphia Flyers are the last team to defeat the Penguins on home ice, having done so on Nov. 13 (2-1).
-Pittsburgh is 9-2 in its last 11 games against the NY Rangers.
-The Penguins have won four straight games against the Rangers here at CONSOL Energy Center, outscoring them 12-3.
-Pittsburgh is 14-2-4 in its last 20 home games against the NY Rangers.

MOST HOME WINS
Pittsburgh enters tonight’s game owning the most home wins in the NHL this season (17). The Penguins have not lost at CONSOL Energy Center since Nov. 13. They enter this contest riding a 10-game home winning streak. With a win tonight, the Penguins will equal the second-longest home winning streak in franchise history (Jan. 5-March 7, 1991).

During their 10-game home win streak, the Penguins have outscored foes, 38-20; allowed just two opposition power-play goals (29-for-31; 93.5%); and gone 8-for-29 (27.6%) on the man-advantage.

Since dropping their first two home games of last season, the Penguins have gone 35-7 (.833 pct.) over their last 42 home contests.

DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Pittsburgh enters tonight’s game against the Rangers having posted the fifth-lowest home goals-against average in the NHL this season (1.95). Only the New Jersey Devils (1.67), Boston Bruins (1.74), Anaheim Ducks (1.82) and Minnesota Wild (1.91) have posted
lower averages.

The Penguins have allowed two or fewer goals in 15 of their first 20 home games.

Among goaltenders with 10 or more home starts, Marc-Andre Fleury has the fourth-lowest goals-against average at 1.71.

SID STEPS UP
NHL scoring leader Sidney Crosby has stepped up to help keep the Penguins near the top of the NHL standings despite the team
playing nine of its last 12 games without the services of Evgeni Malkin and several other front-line players.

In the nine games Crosby has played without Malkin, he has 17 points (4G-13A). More impressively, he has factored into 53% of the
Penguins’ goals (17 of 32) in the nine games Malkin has missed. Pittsburgh’s record in those nine contests is 6-3.

With his assist at New Jersey on Dec. 31, Crosby has at least one point in 16 of his last 18 contests.
