No need to waste a bullet- they already dead.
Fair enough. Old Yeller, already crawled off to the woods and the gun isn't needed. This is such a disappointing season for several reasons. I'm in the camp that this this roster should be seeing better results. Have we heard the punchline yet?

It is. But after the playoffs debacle last season and Niskanen stepping away without replacement, I set my expectations very low. I am happy I did.

Sell what you can and give some AHL kids a taste of the NHL to prepare them for training camp.
Don't mind slipping a few notches in the draft.
It's important to finish strong, not so much winning games but playing well, especially for the kids.
The last few games the team actually looks good, if they had played like this since March 1 they'd be well ahead of Boston and pushing the Pens.

The playoff performance was certainly unexpected for me. That should have been taken as a clear warning, but I still saw a team with great potential. That's not to say winning it all, only much better than we've seen.

Having a real offseason will help a lot, this team obviously needed practice time!

I'd really love to see this team acquire some good veteran defensemen in the offseason. If Fletcher decides to be a seller, I hope that he acquires draft picks for the players leaving the team.
I think this team should be in a complete retooling mode. The offense is nearly as wretched as the horrible defense.
I also hope that Fletcher acquires a good back up goalie who could share the load of the season with Carter Hart,of whom I have 100% confidence that he'll return next season in better mental condition.

So after this loss will Jackson and Jones finally admit the season is over?

Not as long as they both get paid to stay between the lines and spew out the Comcast company line.. And as long as they want to keep their cushy jobs.. That is what they have to do to play the game. But you can tell, especially with JJ who is a huge, long-suffering Flyer fan too, that he points out as much as he can in his game play-by-play comments of the problems and issues without getting himself in trouble with Comcast..

Limey, with all respect, I am not sure. Part of me says yes, go sell mode overtime. But, another part of me is trying to understand how the fall could have been so hard and team pervasive as it was this year after last year's hope. Every facet of the team and coaching/general management failed to make the grade this year. Lack of veteran leadership? Overvaluation of assets? Massive underachievement of the defense? Inability of coaching staff to adjust system and properly hold players accountable? AV is not a Torts or Lavy motivator-style. I think he expected more from the leadership core this year who were non-existent. Av has never experienced this level of a team leadership degrade before, even with the Rangers. My concern here is that I see an AV team/player disconnect. I am not sure with his coaching contract how you fix it. But he like the GM are not going anywhere. So, in this case, unlike much in hockey, you have to work on the player side and quickly. I agree go younger, get Phantom players in there to see what they have to offer. Move out the deadweight for picks as much as you can. I see Fletcher making the kind of changes we mak have $8-10M in cap space to work with. Harts stays. We have a Goalie. No problem there.
