[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

You have to challenge yourself a lot to try and beat them and the fact that they’re a New York team.
They’ve been working hard the last few years, adding pieces. They’ve got something going. We have to prepare for a tough game and I we’re all looking forward to playing at home.
- Henrik Lundqvist

I think no matter what the records are, the rivalry is still huge. It’s just at the point of the season is at, how tough points are to get.
It’s going to make it that much tougher. I think any Ranger-Islander game is a big deal, no matter what the records are.
But I think the biggest thing is how much both teams need points. It seems everyone is winning so that’s what is going to make it a huge game.
- Rick Nash

It’s a team that’s basically red hot since the start of the season. It’s going to be a New York classic.
It should be a lot of fun for both teams. Right now, they’re the best in our division and we’re looking forward to the challenge.
- Alain Vigneault

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to our GDT.

This is the biggest regular season game between the Rangers and Islanders in quite some time. We really don't want to have to post a million warnings, so hopefully this post will act as a catch-all.

1. Report but do not reply to anything you believe to break the rules. "Street justice" sorts of replies will be subject to moderator action, too. Please don't make our job harder than it is.

2. Visiting fans will be expected to adhere to the rules and particularly to our forum-specific requirements.

3. If you post on any other board, especially HFNYI, you will be held accountable for your actions. Zinging people, "stirring **** up," etc. are against the rules. Don't pull anything and expect support from us. That's not how things work.

4. No wishing injury on anyone.

5. No cross-posting from any other board. That's trolling.

6. Have fun. Hockey is just a game. :)

One of the biggest January regular season games that I can remember in quite some time. Who would've thought that it'd be against the Islanders?

HUGE four-point swing game here. But remember, there's still just over half the season to go for the Rangers.

Hope we come out flying and match (and then some) the intensity the Islanders always seem to bring to these games.

Probably my favorite time at a Rangers Isles game was in the season they won all 6 (02-03 i think?) It was the game Messier choked out Jason Blake and we won like 6-2.

I saw an obnoxious Islander fan stand up and start yelling when they were down like 5-1. no sooner after he started yelling did a pretzel nail him in the face.

I also think thats when the "you cant beat us" chant came out.

good times.

This should be good! I hope they destroy the Islanders like they did California.

No time for a let down game, please, pedal to the metal

Everyone remember not to kill yourself if the rangers do lose tonight, it's not that big of a deal yet
