Looks like Olofsson was held off of Team Sweden, Romanov didn't make Team Russia as their prelim roster has 10 D but he has been playing in the VHL preseason games. Ylonen won't be there for Finland same for Ikonen who is still injured for at least another 3 months.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the VHL exactly?

Vysshaya Hokkeinaya Liga (Supreme/Major/Higher Hockey League) - The second level of hockey in Russia, basically the AHL of the KHL.

Too bad Ylonen isn't playing, even few games could be improved for him. But oh well, let's see how Kotka does during this tourney. Is it going to be broadcast sportnets or sport centre? Or are they going to have a stream?

Lol i know russia puts alot of emphasis on experience and age in their international tournament... but jesus romanov looks worst everyday considering the numbers of talent that was still available, it’s upsetting. My opinion is biased because i have barely seen him play beside the very limited online footage but theres a couple of russian posters on these boards are literally no one is high on the kid. We probably could of drafted the kid in the 4th round wich is a little upsetting. Will wait till i can actually see more of him before having a personnal opinion but one thing is sure, im realy not exited about him.

Years ago I had a few long talks with the guy that was the head scout for ISS when they first started. He told me that when you have lesser know prospects, teams know who is in on him since they all know who each other scouts are. So it's likely that the Habs are high on him and knew that some team liked him before the 56th pick.

I've seen him play several games at the MHL and U-18's. Great skating but still not sure what they saw in him to draft him that high. He did put up good numbers for the VHL and now we'll see how he does in the MHL vs older players.
