Washington yes but the Devils suck but we need the wins. Stolarz against NJ on the back to back?

Yes - I like the idea of Stolarz playing v NJ. And I also like the idea of Gordon being waived next week. And MacDonald being sent down, or a D getting traded, so we can keep Cousins and Leier. In the meantime, put Weise back in for Gordon today. He had his game; that's enough. Maybe after sitting Weise will be motivated to show us why Hextall gave him such a long contract.

NJ always seem to play boring but stingy and efficient hockey against the Flyers.
I like their chances more against a more talented Caps team because the Flyers normally at least bring their A level game when playing against them.

I like the GDT btw! More of that please

Pretty much. Although this one is the game we need to win. I'd be ok with losing against NJ if we beat the Caps.
Of course, winning both would be even better...

Was listening to DC sports radio on the way in, and they asked (I think) Beninati why the Flyers allow so many goals. I was ready to cringe, but he immediately said "Well, they've got a lot of issues on the blueline. They have a few good players there, especially the 19 year old Ivan Provorov; but they have a lot of problems there. Steve Mason has done a lot to mitigate that lately."

Thank you Joe B. Thank you. I'm glad somebody is paying attention.

That's, in all honesty, a better answer than our own ****ing beat writers would give.

They still think Mason is struggling and AMAC is playing well.

caps have won 6 of their last 7 but those 6 were against: Buffalo (x2), Boston, Vancouver, Isle & Carolina
almost as if they were scheduled to play all the crap teams [minus boston] in the league in one stretch

Flyers are keeping Cousins on the roster regardless of what happens with Gordon or Leier.

I can't see Hextall putting Cousins on waivers, just for him to get claimed by another team. Leier is waivers exempt so he can be send to the AHL without having to be put on waivers, Cousins and Gordon on the other hand are not waivers exempt so they would have to pass through waivers before being send down, and that would be a very dumb move on Hextall's part if he even tried to send Cousins down.
Gordon I don't really care for and Boyd doesn't have a place on the Flyers roster when all the regulars are healthy, so he'll most likely be the one that's send down, if he clears waivers.

In the beginning of the season Hextall said that if a young player (Leier) were to outplay a current player (Gordon) on the roster that he'd try to find a spot on the roster, if that said young player earned it, well in this case i believe Taylor Leier has earned himself a roster spot over the likes of players like Gordon, VandeVelde and even Weise, but VDV isn't going anywhere due to being the favored by the coach.

If Leier stays and Gordon is send down, a defensemen must be either send down through waivers (MacD or Schultz) or traded after the Christmas break (Schultz).

Problem for Hextall is that he may not get much value for Schultz as far a picks go right now, Schultz hasn't played any games since the beginning of the season so he may try to trade him at the TDL once he's played a few games, so Hextall may choose the option of sending A MacD through waivers to the A if he so chooses to keep 14F 7D 2G on the roster. If not Leier and Gordon may be in the A with 13F 8D 2G.

Hextall has a few decisions to make after the Christmas break.

DC hockey coverage is far, far better than ours.

Proof: How they handled Semin. None of them liked him. He was a jackass to journalists, blew them off, they knew he was staying out late drinking, he even treated fans like garbage. And they kept their mouths shut, didn't mention any of it, and only reported on his play.

The second he was gone they opened the floodgates for a day, because doing so at that point wouldn't be a distraction that could damage the team. Our media has zero concern about damaging the team.
