[FIELDSET="Game Overview"]First meet of the season, with the follow-up in San Jose next month. Sharks swept the Leafs last year on a two-game series with strong performances from Marleau and Couture. Although the Leafs will be starting a backup goalie, Sharks are looking for extending their road winning streak with a follow-up win after visiting Montreal.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Keys to the Game"]Score early and take a lead at the 1st intermission. Garrett Sparks is unbeaten when the Leafs are in the lead at the puck drop to start the 2nd period. Sharks need to score early, keep a lead into the 2nd period to prevent Sparks from getting into a groove.

Sharks also need to find scoring from their offensive players from the depths. Noticeable, Melker, Matt, Wingels, Tierney to keep pressure on the rookie goalie with a hot start. [/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Season Match Up"]Sharks are going for the opening season win.

Dec 17th - Sharks @ Leafs
Jan 9th - Leafs @ Sharks

Rookie goalie starting for a bad Leafs team. If they play the same way they did in Montreal they should get two points without a doubt.

Hertl is tweaked?

Didn't seem like the drug type to me...

That's all DeBoer said yesterday... he tweaked something and was taken out of the lineup. Some nogoodnick decided to tweet false rumors about an impending trade though.

Yeah, Hertl got tweaked, twittered, or ?. With this club, who knows and they setup themselves up for that rumor with how they disclose injuries.

Nonetheless, NHL.com game preview has him back in for the projected lineup, but not where I would put him. I'd move Karlsson up to 1st, and have Hertl center the 2nd line.

They should start Stalock in this game and Jones tomorrow in Ottawa...at least if you feel like giving Stalock the easier opponents.
