3 sweeps, 3 different teams, all Eastern Conference. What does it mean?

Exactly as the title says; 3 sweeps in only 2 rounds, all in a single conference.

Columbus sweeps Tampa Bay, New York sweeps Pittsburgh, who is then in turn swept by Carolina.

Is this the parity that the NHL dreamt of - lower seeds overtaking high seeds?
Or is this counterintuitive to the idea of parity - games should be more likely to go to 6-7 games?

Detroit swept Philly in 97. Should I be reading anything into that related to today's NHL?

The NHL playoffs are more exciting than the NBA playoffs. More exciting and open than every other pro postseason for that matter.

I have no choice but to assume that the Eastern conference sucks.

:sarcasm: <-- for the inevitable guy that would actually get mad about this.

It's why it's the only sport where luck, skill, physicality, chemistry, and the Hockey Gods can change everything from one series to the next. It's why this is the greatest game on earth.

Yeah, it would be pretty odd if the Hockey gods started messing with the NFL.
