I really enjoy the Jamie Benn displeasure. You guys need to hear about this man named Jim Nill.
Funny the discussion is still about players like Nichushkin, Janmark, Ritchie.
You guys check out the 73 players ahead of Jamie Benn in scoring? I think 5 of them make the same or more than him. The rest get paid less.
Benn's highest point total was the same year everyone was having career lows. We gave $10.5m to a player who won a fluke Art Ross and has made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs 1 time in his whole career.
Let's say we get Panarin (we won't), and we added him to our current core. What happens when Benn is permanently demoted to the 2nd line and his padded point totals go way down? Spezza might help him for a bit, but it won't last at all.
Face it, that 10.5m 2nd line caliber winger is killing us and he happens to be our captain.
Quick edit: Jeff Petry and Jamie Benn both have 17 points.

we arent allowed to be displeased with both?I really enjoy the Jamie Benn displeasure. You guys need to hear about this man named Jim Nill.
Benn is an issue. A big issue. And if you point to ten things before Benn, then your priorities are out of whack.Benn ain’t a issue, dude does allot of little things also. Yeah he should be playing better but we literally have 10 other things to fix before we should be discussing benn

On the list of things to fix, Benn factors into a number of the most important ones. The bad power play might well be number one, and Benn factors heavily into it given his permanent spot on the top unit. The overall offensive deficiency also has Benn’s fingerprints on it because of how much ice time he gets. Really, a good PP and consistent goal scoring would work wonders to fix most of the gripes about this team.
The PP was god awful even when Klingberg was healthy. And trying to minimize Benn's role on the PP to nothing but a net front screen is silly. Benn touches the puck a ton on the PP, so he's very much a part of the PP problem.I couldn’t disagree anymore.
Benn’s Role on the power play is the front of the net. He can’t do his things if the puck never gets there. With klingberg out it’s almost impossible to play the way that they want to. That’s on coaching for not changing the system while klinger is gone
