Pacific Division top 7 teams get into playoffs. Top seed gets bye, the other six face off to determine the other three opponents. Re-seeding after every round.

Total and complete BS. Rather than give Participation Awards for nearly every team, they need to take the top four in each division PERIOD. If you want to make the playoffs, play well. If not, watch from home while 16 other organizations play.

When there are four divisions of 8 teams, sure. But Pacific has TEN teams.

I couldn't care less if 6 teams from the Pacific miss the playoffs. And 5 rounds with byes is absolutely ridiculous. I hate the AHL playoff format

You are correct. That being typed, the powers that be have had the off season to work on re-alignment and fix that issue. Given that this season's schedule is little more than a "rinse and repeat" of last season's, they dang sure did not spend a lot of time working on that during the Summer Meetings.
Having so many teams make the post season, as well as extending the post season to the fiasco we will see again this year, is nothing more than a money grab by the AHL to make up for the COVID related financial losses during the 19-20 and 20-21 seasons.

The Pacific owners sure seem to be flexing their muscles more every year, and deliberately distinguishing themselves from the rest of the AHL. Now with 10 teams, how long can it be until they make the formal split?

Would take us right back to the not too long forgotten AHL/IHL rivalry days when that was the split. given the number of teams and the fact that the AHL seems to be having a problem getting the schedule and playoffs figured out, going back to that split might not be such a bad idea.
There is more than enough talent out there to make both leagues competitive and allow the development of the players while keeping the fans interested and entertained.

I threw together this grid, just because it's always interesting to me to see how many opponents each team faces, since it's pretty inconsistent across the league. As usual, Chicago is the worst offender for playing the fewest teams (8). Toronto is playing the most teams (16). Henderson and Ontario are the only teams to completely stay within the division (9 opponents).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....They are 100% freaking OFFENDERS...and finally with no BS excuses to hide behind...the others play less games....they want us to go there in march and weve played more games so its an unfair advantage for them....this is the schedule the league gave us... ALL the BS excuses and its always been about money 100% money

Twelve games between teams is horrible, but there is no excuse for 14 games between teams in a 72 game schedule. I get that travel is a big expense, but come on.

It’s funny to me the “make the playoffs” is just a best of 3 play-in, like it’s not even a real round of the playoffs.
