Criswell was impressive last night.

I don’t think he threw 5 pitches above mid-thigh.

Apparently they put him on a velocity-building program that didn’t take. And tbh it might be a good thing it didn’t take because I think he’s better at a well below average 88 mph then he would be at a mediocre 92. He’s an uncomfortable at-bat. Lots of movement, weird arm slot, good extension from his huge/gangly 6’6 frame. Good find by Breslow.

We got on ownership for not investing in the roster but it would appear they invested heavily in off-the-roster pieces and it’s paying off with these pitching results. It’s also probably a lot more efficient than giving Chris Sale or David Price huge contracts- it’s definitely cheaper (which is why they do it) but it may also actually be the better way to go about things given pitching injuries these days. Develop a bunch of guys so you don’t have to overpay for pitchers via trade or free agency and beg they don’t get injured
