An incredible shot and the elite ability to get into open lanes to get his shot off. He’s a pure sniper and may be the best goal-scorer in the draft class. I don’t dislike Sennecke as a player, but I’d be disappointed if we drafted him at 5.

I wouldn't say his shot is stand out. It's not Caufield tier. I'd say Senneckes skating hands and creativity would play at the same level as Iginla shooting ability.

If they do that Bedard asks for a trade.

Bedard's post-ELC contract will be interesting. I think he might go with the Matthews route, i.e., go UFA as quickly as possible and give himself options in case the Chicago rebuild fails and collapses.

I wonder how many scouts are concerned with Lindstrom and his injury issues.
Lindstrom’s agent claims that his client’s medical records will show that there are no lingering issues. Since he has medical records and that they will be made available to NHL teams, I have to believe that there is no major cause for concern.

Let the teams selecting ahead of the Habs think the worst — would work perfectly.

f*** it I’m on the Sennecke bandwagon. From a pure traits perspective, and I’m always traits first, he’s well worthy of the 5th pick and honestly I don’t even understand the Lindstrom>Sennecke argument. Lindstrom had the better stats this season, but missed a good chunk making it a smaller sample size. And now Sennecke going off in the playoffs. Lindstrom might be more filled out, but you want a wiry frame with room to grow at this age don’t you? That’s what the Kotkaniemi guys told me anyway… lol

What specific skill does Iginla have that stands out compared to Sennecke?
I think that he doesn't have specific skills, it's more the intangibles that comes with the pick:
  • Bloodlines
  • Work ethic
  • This year's Stats sheet
  • One of the yougest player of the draft
  • Plays the way Habs would like to play
Compared to Sennecke, let just say that Iginla seems safer. While Sennecke might have a greatest reward. But even if that's the case, I feel that Iginla's reward will be great.

But could they see Sennecke as Slaf V.2?

In my opinion, not more of a reach than Iginla.

If Lindstrom isn’t there and you wanna go for upside/skills + size, he should be an option.

No idea if they habs are interested for real but i wouldn’t be so surprised.
Agreed. If Lindstrom and Demidov are off the board, I would pick Sennecke.

I really like his upside.

We will see where things are at after the combine

But if you do the math, Bob's list had 4 players that were above the rest

Celebrini

Demidov
Silayev
Levshunov

If that crystallizes then it should hold and give us Lindstrom.

If Hawks go Levshunov, do the Ducks entertain moving down to 5? They can get Parekh or Helenius.

No way these three guys will be picked up all in the top 4

For whatever its worth scout Jason Bukala.....

MAY 7 2024

Sportsnet draft expert Jason Bukala had Iginla ranked tenth on his draft list before the tourney, but moved him to fifth after watching him play live at the Worlds.

We need a big bodied top 6 winger who brings offence, grith and speed and will show up in clutch moment, or a big bodied two-way first pairing defenseman.

Make it happen Bobrov

Ducks don’t have a 2nd rounder next year. I wonder if the Habs can get the 3rd pick for 5th + Flames 1st in 2025. Make sure to get your guy.

Corey Pronman also said that Silayev and Levshunov are the top options at 2 and have a solid shot at going #2 and #3. I actually think the odds of one of Demidov and Lindstrom being available at #5 are pretty good.

Like last year , it’s seams we are a pick to late to draft the elite offensive talent again.

2023: Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli, Smith then Us
2024: Celebrini, Demidov, probably à Defenseman, Lindstrom, Us again too late .
Lindstrom, Iginla, imo, none of them are elite offensive talents.
