Macklin Celebrini won the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s MVP to further cement himself as the No. 1 prospect for this year’s NHL Draft.

Ivan Demidov is looking like a dynamite consolation prize, lighting up the MHL playoffs at a record pace to pull away from the pack as my No. 2.

The rest of the first round remains in flux heading into the Under-18 worlds starting next week in Finland!

I’m still high on Cole Eiserman as the best goal-scorer in this class despite his stock trending down for most. He’s in the next tier with the Big 3 on D for me.

Then my 7-16 tier is very intriguing, especially when it comes to the order their names will be called on draft day. But they should all be locks for the first round!

All bets are off after that, with my 17-49 tier contending for the first round. That’s a big group obviously, but that is where I expect the NHL lists to start varying quite drastically.

Likewise, with my 50-100 tier of second-round candidates, there isn’t a lot of separation in terms of talent or upside, so beauty will be in the eye of the pick holder again!

Beyond that, my tiers of 101-169 and 170-224 are projected to be mid- or late-round picks with plenty of overagers and goaltenders of interest. Some are dark-horses to be drafted, including a few personal favourites that were passed over in previous years but have continued to develop!

Your feedback is welcomed, as always! Enjoy the U18 tourney and I'll be back with my final rankings following the combine!

I counted 18 Czechs... so I love this list. I'd say Curran felt low but that is a quibble.

I didn't add it up but felt it was something like 6 to 8 Czech D (Jiricek, Badinka, Galvas, Fibigr, Tichachek, Svozil, Cibulka?)

3 goalies? Milota, Spunar and Matecha?

Rest were forwards.. nice to see Titlbach still on the list!

My guess is 12 Czechs. But hoping for more.

I appreciate everyone putting such a list together, so thank you. I have not followed the current draft class much but from my Swiss persfective I feel like Muggil is way too low. He had a very good season and good playoffs with a quite prominent role. Also in the latest released rankings he went up again, so having him that low seems a bit off for me.

Again, I know nothing about all the other prospects, so I might be off.

I think there are 20 Czechs if you count Lukas Fischer as one of your own! or 19 without him (8 F, 8 D, 3 G). And, yes, I still have a soft spot for Titlbach and would take a late-round flyer on his upside!

You are probably right to set the over/under around 12 Czechs getting drafted, probably closer to 12 than 20 in reality.

This is my fourth ranking of the draft year and the highest Muggli has been for me — albeit still in the same tier (71, 77, 64, now 61). I like the player, he's very efficient and heady, plays a mostly safe, smart game with flashes of offence. Not quite as dynamic as JJ Moser but sort of in that mould. I expect him to be drafted in the 50-100 tier where I have him ranked.

If it wasn't such a strong class of North American defenders, perhaps Muggli would be knocking on the door of the first round. But this class is full of quality D prospects, so that bumps him down a bit through no fault of his own. Stiff competition in 2024!

Can you talk a bit about Hage? Seeing him on the same tier as Catton, Iginla and Helenius has me pretty intrigued, considering my team will be drafting 13th or 14th, and could really use some skilled righties in the forward group.

Hage has been a top talent for this class for years, obviously opted to go the USHL/college route but has continued to develop nicely. His skill level ranks right up there in that tier. I still prefer Connelly when comparing the USHL forwards but Hage has played his way into that "potential Top 10 pick" tier! I would definitely consider him at 13-14 depending who's left on the board. I do think Hage has the potential to outperform his draft position like a Seth Jarvis.
