I really hope this kid proves us wrong.
Here's what Corey Pronman said about him on the Athletic (ranked #79, so I guess Grier wasn't the only one who liked him in the 70s range):
Svoboda is an intriguing athlete. He's 6-foot-3 and skates well with a toolkit that should work versus better players. He shows flashes of strong offensive skill. His game is quite inconsistent though. I don't see a ton of hockey sense in him and his effort is just OK. If it ever clicks for him he has potential to be a player and thus I think he's worth a gamble at some point in the draft because his toolkit is rare after the top group of players.
Sounds like a solid gamble to me.

One positive thing I came across - he crushed it at the combine: #7 overall

Aerobic Fitness: #14 (Test Duration) / #24 (VO2max (ml/kg/min)
Agility & Balance - Pro Agility: #4 (Left) / #6 (Right)
Anaerobic Fitness: #18 (Mean Power Output) / #7 (Peak Power Output) / not in top 25 (Fatigue Index)
Anthropometry: #8 (Wing Span)
Musculoskeletal: #16 (Left Hand Grip) / #12 (Right Hand Grip)

Others:
Will Smith: #24 (Pro Agility Left); #18 Mean Power Output; #17 Peak Power Output; #24 (Pull Ups Consecutive)
Quentin Musty: #17 (Left Hand Grip)
Kasper Halttunen: #24 (Right Hand Grip)
Luca Cagnoni: #23 (Fatigue Index); #22 (Pull Ups Consecutive)

It's a different regime, but historically this is something the Sharks strongly valued.
Didn't like the reach at 71 would have been available at 94
If he would have been available at 94, why did they move up?

I'm not sure I love the fact that he lacks compete and hockey sense.

You can usually develop physical skills that need some sharpening. It's a lot harder to develop someone's mental skills

Future 3rd line center or winger. Not gonna score a lot of pts but will be hard to play against because of his big frame. Willing to bet he packs on muscle and grows his mental game and compete in college. Have faith Nem. Speak it into the universe my friend.

If the Sharks need at least one galaxy brain move per draft, may it be after the first 2 rounds.

It's not just that the universe won't listen, but that it's a quantum anomaly that has no consciousness or other ability to process an insignificant human's words.
