The composition of the roster, what else? It would still be a surprise but they definitely have better chance than in the Last couple of years.
I don't know, weaker opposition or something. I don't really see a massive difference in the roster of this team compared to one that gave a relegation scare last year. Some decent gains, and some big losses. Really hard to see how it could almost double the points.

Not a bad team, despite no Kasper or M.Raffl and Komarek

Fabi Hofer retired in NT
big losses - Marco Kasper - injured, Benjamin Baumgartner - injured, Michael Raffl - injured, Konstantin Komarek - repeatedly ignored in recent years

austria always had so much bad luck. players who quit the NT or injuries on key players etc.

a best possible Austria team with all players there, would be a qf canidate

According to the last pre WC games our attacking line-up will probably look like this:

Zwerger - Rossi - Mario Huber --> had really good chemistry right away in the 1st game against Slovakia and should provide some decent offense.
Th. Raffl - Nissner - Schneider --> know each other well from Salzburg. Hopefully Schneider will be at 100% after his injury (broken hand). Thaler would probably his replacement.
Ganahl - Haudum - Neubauer/Thaler --> Neubauer complemented the Ganahl/Haudum duo well in the camps, so I'd guess he gets the call on this line.
Wukovits - Achermann - Paul Huber --> Some big bodies on that line. Definitely won't get outmuscled by the opponents

So despite the player losses I'm confident with this team. Really looking forward and can't wait till the WC finally starts.

what about the defence?
Defence probably could look like this:

Wolf - Nickl
Heinrich - Zündel
Brunner - Reinbacher
Strong - Maier
Wimmer

Bader nominated 9 defenders (and only 13 forwards), so that's an indication for me that he will go with 4 D pairs. Like I already wrote at some point in this thread: That's a pretty good D for austrian standards and maybe only beside Clemens Unterweger the best what we can offer at the moment.

Heinrich and Reinbacher will most likely be the two PPQB. If it's the same as in the home game against Slovakia, the PP squads would be:

Heinrich
Rossi - Nissner - Schneider
Th. Raffl

Reinbacher
Zwerger - ?? - Haudum
Mario Huber
Neubauer played in the bumper spot in this game. Would be a bit of a surprise, if he gets that kind of trust in the WC too. Wukovits or Achermann most likely would be his replacements.

If that team can maintain the pace they played last year against the top teams, limit mistakes and especially stupid penalties, it should be fun to watch and might have some success.

I especially like that Arno Del Curto is part of the coaching team again, he seems to have a lot of positive influence on the players.

As for players, I am looking forward to seeing Reinbacher at this level. He has been very good in the pre-tournament games. So much talent and plays with a lot of confidence.

Another interesting guy is former QMJHL-forward Mario Huber. Always had the size and the talent, just never put it all together until this season. Deservedly made the roster and could be a force on offense because of his skill level and the physicality he brings.

Wimmer truly does stand out in that defensive group. Not only as only defender over 190cm, but also playing just 5 regular season games, mostly in AHL.
Yearly reminder how big defender depth doesn't really exist.
I hope for avoiding relegation.
