Nobody in the entire world is gonna hand him all that money for free. The suggestion is ridiculous and it’s not happening. If he doesn’t turn it around we are f***ed.

When a high paid player on the team is in a terrible slump for whatever reason, it's up to the coach to find a way to get that player on the right track. Clueless Charmin usually blames the players than take the blame himself for the losses. I see nothing that TMac is doing coaching wise to get PLD going. PLD at the same time has a bit of an attitude problem. We know that he's not buying into the coaches system, but frankly neither is a good deal of the rest of the team. Drastic measures need to be maid firing TMac and see if PLD game play changes for the better. Kings could really use a coach that is a players coach and who show passion towards the team.

Then you aren't paying attention.

He started the first block of the season with Fiala and Laferriere/Kaliyev. Fiala was playing well and producing, and he wasn't.

So he was put with two grinders to put in the work he refused to do. People then started saying that he'd do better with better players.

He got the most favorable faceoff deployment, starting in the offensive zone more than any other regular forward. He still drags the line down.

McLellan then put him with Kopitar and Kempe, making Byfield take on his "grinder linemates who don't help." Byfield scores in his first game with them. PLD drags the Kopitar line down to a new low.

The experiment lasted 5 periods. Byfield and PLD switch to start the third. And wouldn't you know it? Byfield scores on his first shift back with Kopitar and Kempe. PLD floats his line to another goal against.

As much as I criticize McLellan, he's done everything he could to make Blake not look like a cuck in the trade. And PLD is playing like a rag they won't even use to clean off Blake's face.

Valid points. At the same time, who is to say that TMac made the right coaching decisions, because he has made a lot of coaching mistakes or probably better said as lacking of coaching regarding best suited lines and how certain players are deployed. 2 wrongs don't make a right and PLD/Tmac are both wrongs! PLD situation is high skilled player that never fit the coaching system from the start.

What else is McLellan supposed to do? Change the system because one prima donna doesn't want to play it?

Change or tweak the system because the opponent coaches have figured out how to out coach TMac! The high goal scoring from the team is gone, the turnovers in their own zone that have led to the opponent scoring goals, has not be cleaned up of late. The goaltending hasn't been as consistent as it was earlier in the first half of the season. I don't think the majority of the roster believe in the system, and most certainly they don't believe in the coach. There is too much individual play from the players and not enough cohesiveness, in all 3 zones.

This has plagued Todd his entire career. He needs to be fired. He’s never adapted in his entire career.

PLD has shown to be a slow starter with new systems when he has been traded. Any changes will likely slow his gradual improvement. He doesn't fit and needs to be bought out.

Please stop discussing trading with the Caps. The Caps don't deserve PLD and he is too costly to move. With Dan Snyder now gone, he would quickly become the most despised sports character in the city.

You sit PLD's ass in the press box for a week and have him watch the players play the system. If that doesn't send a message and improve things then you have to start looking trade route.

By far the biggest mistake of Blake's reign, if it was Blake's mistake.

Problem is Kempe and Kopitar suck right now too . Heck i have never seen Kopitar be as much of a liability as he has lately and thats on the coach. Whether its him being ridiculously overplayed or otherwise

Pld isnt the only issue with the team right now . Majority of the team is suckin hard including Kempe and Kopitar most of all .

We are currently a 1 line team and thats Fiala and Moore , i think Danault could be better as well . But hey its only Plds fault

This isn't at you directly but I keep seeing this and it's like

The Kings aren't getting hard to the net

Everything is one and done from the perimeter and if they DO get a slot shot it's contested but no one is there to screen, tip, rebound hard

This team is allergic to the slot, they treat it like the basketball key...cross the blueline into the zone and immediately start working the perimeter until all five players touch the puck then they take a feeble point shot into opposing players but with kings at the side of the net rather than in front

It's not just a coincidence and every goalie in the league isn't suddenly god mode, we just make it so, so easy on them. Kings are just going thru the motions and volume shooting.
And none of the soft perimeter players currently on the Kings are going to suddenly start going to the slot.

They would really need to add a guy like Maroon and see what happens. Corey Perry would’ve been a nice cheap addition. Even then or if they were to swing for the fence and go after a guy they don’t have the assets for in Brady Tkachuk, though none of them are saving this season.

I’ve written this season off but I doubt Blake has, I just hope it’s not another Parrish/Sopel type deal.

Problem is Kempe and Kopitar suck right now too . Heck i have never seen Kopitar be as much of a liability as he has lately and thats on the coach. Whether its him being ridiculously overplayed or otherwise

Completely agree. Kopitar out there looking like Weekend At Bernie’s but let’s start him in OT … again.

I agree. My only hope is they don't pawn off more valuable futures, and they instead take a personal inventory.
What's going on here

Left when the Kings were down 2-0 to the lowly Sharks and were being outplayed in the first...Good to see Byfield score with a great set up by Kempe...impressed by the goal by Moore and blast from the point by Doughty to tie...at least the Kings got a point

If Turcotte can stay healthy he would be the perfect 3rd line Center for this team...and he epitomizes all the qualities we want.

The biggest issue I have with Dubois at this point is the effort. And lack of effort ultimately equals bad leadership.

I know. Be sure to save me a piece if it happens

They have to build the lines with pairs. Kopitar & Kempe. Moore & Danault. Fiala & Byfield. and PLD with Lewis, gulp. We were all so frightened when Lewis signed they would stick him with Fiala & PLD but the truth is, someone needs to be able to cover PLD's ass.

It bugs the hell out of me Fiala/Byfield/Vilardi coulda and shoulda been the top line. PLD needs to be on the bottom line to finish the year, plain and simple.

Vilardi had MAD chemistry with Fiala and Byfield. That would have been a sick line. He played well with Iafallo also. No point in thinking about it now. Hopefully a fire gets lit under PLD, otherwise we are all gonna be pretty salty for these 8 years.

8, 11, and 24 will be toast by the all star break at this rate. TM gonna ride the vets instead of looking back at the tapes to see what was working so well in the first half of the season. Turning 4 lines and 3 pairings. 8 played more than 8 minutes more than the next highest guy on defense.

LA's record when there's a huge discrepancy in TOI can't be good (don't have the #'s). Yet TM always falls into this comfort zone of playing the vets substantially more when times get competitive. IF they do squeak into the playoffs, the vets will be toast like they have been the last couple of seasons.

1 vote of no confidence.

Not if you see the buyouts for the subsequent years.

This summer is going to be their only realistic opportunity to rid themselves of a massive error in judgement.

Again, don't understand why the Kings didn't roll out....

Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe
Arvidsson-Danault-Moore
Fiala-UFA-Vilardi
Grundstrom-Lizotte-Lewis/Kupari

If the Kings would have just moved AI and his 4 million - they would have 3 million to sign a 3C - Kupari got 1 million.

ROR signed for 4.5 million.
Bjugstad signed for 2.1 million.
Duchene signed for 3 million.
Because Blake had a hard on for PLD...has for a while. Blake needs to go down with the ship.
