It's been brutal the last few years in terms of offense. If this is actually the case - ugh... it might become super unwatchable.

No, it's most definitely something with the baseballs. Yes, April and early May is the worst time for offense in an MLB season... usually because of weather. And of course abridged spring training is a factor -- although it should be more of a factor for PITCHERS than hitters.

But plenty of stats monkeys have done comparisons of distance on balls with the same Exit Velo/Launch Angle at same stadium in different years and seen a massive drop off in how far the balls are going.

Baseball Savant had this chart, and they only used INDOOR venues to remove weather as a factor:
