Canada wins 5-2 but hard to not feel like that's a loss in their eyes. Latvia played them pretty evenly in the 3rd period. Veinbergs did some good things offensively, but once again his play in his own end isn't great. He doesn't finish checks, or really try to use his body. He gets stationary and watches the play a little too much, and he does a lot of weak one hand on the stick swiping to defend. Needs to be more aggressive and assertive. If the plan is for him to join the USHL after this tournament, I'm sure this is something he will work on while adapting to the North American game. For Jack Thompson, he was in his element working on the PP. Very much like we saw in the prospect tournament last September, he loves to shoot the puck. But it was nice to see him get some PK minutes too. He had a couple clear attempts that didn't make it out, but otherwise not a whole lot to critique. He's 3rd pairing, but played 18:30. Without an Owen Power type dman here, there's not much seperation between their #1 and their #6 guy. There's an oppertunity for him to get more minutes as the tournament goes on if he can earn it.
