50/50 between Broberg and Bourgo. Broberg more NHL ready so I have to go him. He's our most important prospect as we need him to be ready next year, even moreso then Holloway

Going with Bourgault.

I like Broberg, but I haven't really seen him use his skating at the AHL or NHL level. If he doesn't use his one elite tool, his upside is more around that decent second pairing level, IMO.

OTOH, isn't that a promising sign that he more than treaded water in terms of 5v5 goal differential in the AHL and posted offensive numbers (surprisingly, IMO) while inexplicably not using his greatest asset? I think it'll come more regularly, I'd be shocked/disappointed if it was something he left in Sweden.

In the NHL viewings last season, I felt like he was rather timid in comparison to training camps, pre-season, and pre-bubble. I'm eager to see what's next with a season acclimated to the North American game.

Went with a Broberg. I think all of our last three first rounders prior to this year are solid prospects. Not sure any of them project as top line/top pair players. But hopefully 3 good second tier players who are solid contributors that you need to win a cup. Your 40-50 point forward or your 20 minute a night two way dman.

Donno which one of the three I like best.

Booger gets my vote. He blew my expectations away. You could argue that he and Bourque were the two best players in the entire CHL. Those two were electric all playoffs

I missed poll #1 but Bourgault would be my 1. Holloway at 2

Just based on how much I like the player based on their character. Not at rating of their potential or expectations.

Petrov

Broberg

Holloway/Bourgault/Neimo

Skinner/Shaefer/Tullio/Savoie/Lavoie

Rodrigue/Samo/Fanti

IMHO, Broberg is No.1 and it's not even close. He's the only prospect with significant NHL experience and real upside. Holloway is more like a top 6-9 forward. Bourgault is a long shot.

While I like our top 4 of Broberg/Bourgault/Holloway/Skinner, I’m shocked that the forward who was out scored by the defenseman in their rookie AHL seasons won the top prospect. No biggie, just surprising. Something tells me both these guys will start in the A this year, with Niemelainen/Samorukov/Benson/Malone filling their eventual roster spots to start the season as those players are a little further down their path at this point. I’d think the potential of Broberg and Holloway will see them push into the lineup by Christmas time, but a little more seasoning in the A won’t hurt them a bit.

Schaefer again for me. He probably will be the 4th or 5th rated prospect on here so I'll do my personal list later on and post it when I have some time.

And you seriously think Broberg would outscore Holloway next season if both played in AHL?

Holloway was a first year pro coming off a long injury last season. Broberg must have been on top PP unit all his time there and has had a longer runway adjusting to pro leagues

But what do I know..I voted Petrov for #1 and voting the same for #2

Broberg turned 21 only a month ago. He's had a solid North American development year in the AHL and some deep water learning on an injury riddled NHL blue line. He's shown some PP ability in Bakersfield but I'm not sure that will be a go-to tool in the NHL. Needs to grow in the harder areas of defending but he's not a shrinking violet, just a young player who needs to grow into his man strength. Composure grew noticeably in his second NHL recall. Noted for high character, keen work ethic, the pieces are coming together for this high pedigree draft pick.

Think I would go with Borgault > Broberg > Holloway personally but I can see how either guy could be picked. Excited for training camp to see all 3
I would include Petrov and Savoie in this group but Yeh the Penticton tourney would be fun

Read my post again…I simply said I was surprised..nothing more, nothing less. I like both players, but I guarantee that the main reason for Bourgault and Broberg to finish below Holloway in this poll is not their play to date, but the players we didn’t draft instead.

Objectively speaking, to date, Broberg’s trajectory is quite favourable compared to Klefbom. He is our number one prospect without a doubt in my mind and I believe without the lingering Zegras/Wallstedt whining by the fan base on this board it would be voted that way.

Again though, I really don’t care, was just surprised by the result.

It's not just Zegras/Wallstedt whining.. there is a lot to whine about when comparing Broberg to many of his other peers and his play/projection at NHL level.

Samaroukov and Nemo are going to give him a run for his NHL spot the next couple yrs and a healthy Kulak and Nurse will keep a bottom pairing Dman the next 4 seasons.

IMO we have 0 bluechip prospects but 8-10 great looking prospects with very little gap between each..

I don't have Holloway or Broberg in my top 3 Oilers prospects and think snipers like Petrov, Bourgault ,Savoie are just as good

Holloway destroyed the NCAA and looked far better than Broberg in the AHL despite the difference in numbers. He's absolutely #1 based on his play.

Makes sense that Bourgault is lower. He's farther away and a winger.

I don't really get why some people think the only reason to not like Broberg is that he isn't Zegras. Seems like it's just Broberg bias. There's some legitimate red flags on him as a prospect right now. He has really struggled to use his skating in North America because his head can't keep up with his feet with less space out there. If he can't figure that out, the chances of him being more than a second pairing guy are pretty slim.

Broberg has solid tools but the tool kit is in question.
Bourgault had a nice season, but well see what he does in the NHL. The Q is a weak league and weve had other high scoring forwards from the O and Q flame out in the AHL

Both guys have higher upside, but its Skinner for me because hes actually shown it in the NHL. Hes a more sure thing, and Ill value that over slightly higher upside

The prospect pool is rather average.

That’s a pretty normal adjustment for any player coming over though. This year will be much more telling than last
