I think Bourgault has the highest upside of any of the first rounder / closer to NHL ready prospects. Likely the best shooting RW drafted since Eberle. Seems to have a better two way game (out of junior, at least) and motor than Ebs did.

Holloway is close, but feels more like a lower top end offence, with a high end motor and grit. Feels like a guy that will be taking a lot of tips from Hyman. I’m concerned that his injury may have lowered his shot slightly on perhaps a permanent basis. We’ll see, fingers crossed that it hasn’t

Broberg feels like he’s trending to be a very solid middle pairing guy with a lean towards offence which is great but Bourgault could end up being a 1RW IMO

Bourgault>broberg>Holloway for me.
Think bourgault has top line potential with a decent chance of reaching it while broberg does have top pairing potential it may be a long shot but see him in the future as a solid top 4 D. Holloway being the safest bet at being a nhl middle 6 player but how far offensively can he go?

Edit I’d score them as
bourgault 8.0B
Broberg 8.5C
Holloway 7.5A

I’m curious what more people wanted to see from Broberg this year. He was great in the AHL, putting up a higher PPG than Holloway did in spite of being a defenseman, and also showed some nice flashes in his NHL stint. Feels to me like some people are stuck on wanting other players selected in his draft and judge him more harshly.

Anyone have ES totals for the AHL handy? IIRC Lowetide tends to track these, but it's a lil hard to search his site for things you want.

Anecdotally, I felt like alot of Holloway clips I'd post were PP assists.

I'm going against the grain here and saying that Schaefer is our top prospect in terms of potential and value. He may not have the highest offensive upside of the group, but his shot is very good, he is a solid 2 way player and he isn't afraid to muck it up. If he can improve his skating we are looking at a very good NHL power forward which go for a premium in this league.

What is interesting is that in the 2017 pool as many as 10 players may well make the NHL for at least a modest career. So far seven have already done so. I think Skinner, Niemelainen and Smorukov all have a very good chance.

I think some of the later round picks have been lights out and posting similar seasons to the top guys, so I went with Petrov as a sort of protest vote. If he is what he looks like and brings that to the pro levels, he‘Ll be in the mix.

Holloway is pretty overrated. Broberg was way better than him this past year. He was decent in the AHL. Not outstanding. I’m not sold on him being a lock for the nhl this coming year.

As tempting as Holloway or Borg were to me, I had to go with Stu. If he has anywhere between a good and a stellar year, he'll be responsible for more win points in the bank than any skater prospect we have.

I find it interesting what ppl consider in ranking, such as NHL readiness, in which case I'd agree with Stu for sure.

I vote solely on long term potential and went with Holloway, but agree with the votes that our top 3 are in their own tier and you could make an argument for any of them I think.

I love reading these every year. I will not pollute the vote with my opinion, as it would be based on nothing.

'member HF? Before it was just HFboards? Shathar 'members.

I spent so much time on hockeysfuture I hardly got anything else done.

The order between Borgault, Holloway and Broberg is tough. Also I think Skinner is probably in the mix as well. I went with Borgault.

I tend to view it more in terms of potential though rather than NHL readiness (especially with the higher end players).

Theres probably some recency bias for me but Borgault impressed me last camp and hes only impressed me since.

I was pretty high on Holloway but a bit of a rough year for him with all the injuries (which sucks). I thought he would do a bit more in the AHL than he did. Glad he had a healthy offseason to hopefully be ready for this upcoming year because we need him to make an impact.

Broberg had a pretty good year in AHL. He might be the most important of the three prospects. The team needs a top 4 LD (higher would be preferable!) and hes our best shot at the moment. Similar to Holloway, glad hes had a healthy offseason.

Should be an interesting camp between the three of them. Excited to see.

Broberg (The Big skating defenceman had more points than Holloway in less games)
Bourgault (Highest offensive upside could see him being a 70-80 point winger beside Draisaitl)
Holloway (Steady two way power forward that will put up 50-60 points like a Hyman)

Skinner (1B goaltender down the stretch hopefully)
