10 GAA for Caps goaltenders last year. I take some pleasure in that.

Yep, said it a bunch of times on here. Gm should have been fired for running with those two effectively wasting 2 years they maybe could of done something. They would have beat the panthers last year with even below average goaltending.

Part of that was salary cap related. That is why we traded to bring Vanecek back. It was a place we could be cheap.

It was pretty funny reading the ESPN playoffs preview a few days ago. They are usually pretty light on hockey knowledge anyway, but this was gold:

The Leafs are screwed. Sammy isn't known for being a "bounce back" kind of goalie, is he? And leaving him in for 6 goals was brutal coaching.

Understand that but you cannot win without a real goalie. Other moves should have been made. Vanny was really only supposed to be a feel good story when both goalies got hurt at the beginning of his first season. Gm didn't address the issue and then doubled down on atrocious goaltending

Someone took the goalies skate blade to the face in the Winnipeg Vegas game. Looks like the blade was behind the shield of the jets player and bloody. Could be ugly but looks like it could have been a lot worse

At 0-0 Sammy couldn’t make a stop. Leafs scratch and get it to 2-3, and Sammy can’t make a stop. Head case gonna head case

Yes, but that is contrary to the narrative that GMBM was putting all his chips in on untested goalies. Plus, isn't that an old debate on here? Not enough youth? blah blah blah

Also, you can say that about any player: 'Maybe XYZ would have worked out, but it was far from a sure thing.'

Lundqvist was a long shot. He became the 3rd goalie on the Rangers after 4 straight bad seasons. He was then bought out despite being beloved by the fans/organization.

No Lundqvist was not GMBM putting his chips on a strong candidate. It was a dumpster dive.
