Alright, the one situation where bunting is ok coming up now. Montoya's revenge.

So we have Kirk at 2nd instead of Davis now. I assume Montoyo will tell Semien to bunt into a fielder's choice to get Kirk out at 3rd.

Kirk can move, baby. It just takes him a few bases to reach top speed.

It's too bad the Jays are carrying extra pitchers cause if you had 1 more bench guy you could have double switched Davis in for Jansen and the extra bench guy for Panik who was 8th in the lineup. Now you got Davis at 2nd to start the 10th.

Who's our fastest pitcher? Put them in the game to run at 2nd, and forfeit because we don't have a catcher if we don't score :sarcasm:

You could have double switched Davis in anyway. Davis PH and hits 9th, replaces Gurriel in the outfield. Kirk comes on to hit in Gurriels spot in the lineup and catches.

Yeah could have done that as well. Why wasn't that done? Montoyo doesn't think outside the box.

Crazier that you could be so talented that a 35 WAR career is a massive failure.

Yeah. Looking at his history he really only had 2 elite level seasons in his whole career. He had a bunch of other very good ones, but he wasn't supposed to be meant for "very good". He was supposed to be a 5-tool OF cornerstone type guy.

At least he did better than Delmon Young in the race of "little brothers of solid MLBers who were destined for great things"

While situationally bunting might "make sense" the spot in the order didn't. Semien is a fine hitter who you want to let swing the bat. Kirk is slower than the average runner, and Biggio strikes out a lot so isn't a great option to bunt a guy to 3rd to have him cash in.
