Laurentian had way too many programs, and it was near-impossible to cut them without an external Force Majeure (e.g., earthquake, F5 tornado destroys the school). When you offer a program in your curriculum, you HAVE to staff the courses no matter how limited the demand. Declaring insolvency enabled them to cut dead weight from the university.

Laurentian will come out of this exercise stronger.

Per Ben Steiner Twitter, G Justin Sumarah is set to join the SMU Huskies in the fall. Sumarah had the best save percentage in the Maritime Junior Hockey League in 2020-21 with the Yarmouth Mariners.

Ottawa is putting together an impressive class so far...but obviously they have a lot of holes to fill.

First time the QMJHL’s leading scorer has gone the school route since Ben Duffy in 2014-2015...but he played a year of pro in between. Not sure the last time a player went straight from junior to university.

Decent player, saw a bit of him in Summerside, a pity they couldn't complete a season, they were on the edge of hitting their stride I thought.

Per Ben Steiner, Twitter: The Dalhousie Tigers have a commitment with former QMJHLer Evan MacKinnon for the 2021-22 AUS season. The Tigers now have MacKinnon, Liam Peyton, Barrett Kirwin, and Jarrett Baker.

Big fan of this guy, came in second half and was often over shadowed by Patrick Brown , but he was the best player on the ice on multiple evenings. Gritty , skilled guy.
