Detailed information from Bill Meltzer:
Here's the Flyers' season-opening roster.
HockeyBuzz.com - Bill Meltzer - Flyers claim Patrick Brown off waivers, set opening night roster
The Flyers did not need to place Kevin Hayes on injured reserve to start the season. However, his recovery timetable from abdominal muscle surgery remains the same. The Flyers technically submitted a 21-player active roster (13 forwards including Hayes, six defensemen and two goalies) to the NHL but only 20 are healthy enough to play. The roster:
FORWARDS
11 - Travis Konecny RW
13 - Kevin Hayes C
14 - Sean Couturier C
19 - Derick Brassard C
21 - Scott Laughton C/W
23 - Oskar Lindblom LW
25 - James van Riemsdyk LW
28 - Claude Giroux LW
38 - Patrick Brown C/W
44 - Nate Thompson C/W
62 - Nicolas Aube-Kubel RW
86 - Joel Farabee RW/ LW
89 - Cam Atkinson RW
DEFENSEMEN
3 - Keith Yandle
6 - Travis Sanheim
9 - Ivan Provorov
61 - Justin Braun
70 - Rasmus Ristolainen
94 - Ryan Ellis
GOALIES
35- Martin Jones
79 - Carter Hart
On Sunday, Alain Vigneault indicated that defense prospect Egor Zamula had been cleared to play. However, he's opening the season on SOIR (season-opening injured reserve). Samuel Morin will start out on Injured Reserve (IR), with his cap hit counting toward the cap ceiling but a freed-up active roster space.
The following players will start the season on SOIR or INR (Injured Non-Roster, no cap hit incurred) status:
51 - Ryan Fitzgerald C (INE)
54 - Egor Zamula D
57 - Wade Allison RW
58 - Tanner Laczynski C
60 - Zayde Wisdom C (INR)
68 - Cooper Zech D (INR)
Per Capfriendly, on opening night, the Flyers will be under the cap ceiling even with Hayes on the active roster and Morin on regular IR. However, the available cap space with this arrangement is nearly non-existent: $43,187. If Hayes goes on LTIR at some point, the Flyers will get roughly $7.1 million of allowance to exceed the cap ceiling. However, the organization is hoping that he can return on the quicker end of the 6-to-8 week projected time frame for his absence dating back to the surgery on Sept. 21.
Ahead of Friday's regular season opener against Vancouver, the team will have practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees. After taking maintenance days on Saturday and Sunday before a teamwide off-day on Monday, both Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen are slated to return to practice on Tuesday.
