So lets see your lineup. I personally dont think there will be another move to directly replace Krejci or add to the D core. Not until trade deadline if required

Marchand Bergeron Smith
Hall Foligno Pasta
Debrusk Haula Coyle
Nosek Studnicka Lazar

Forbort McAvoy
Grz Carlo
Reilly Clifton

Ullmark
Swayman

PP1
Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Hall McAvoy

PP2
Debrusk Foligno Smith
Haula Grz

This is a good time to experiment Pasta on the 2nd line. Hall and Pasta alone could be ridiculous. While Foligno has been known for solid 2nd/3rd line skills and selke like strong defensive play. That would balance out the more offensive octane potential of Hall/Pasta

Marchand Bergy and Smith worked really well last season, before Cassidy went back with a struggling Pasta back at the top line.

Bottom 6 should be better. Nobody is playing their off wing. Skating improvement with Haula. Nosek has much better skills than Wagner and Kuraly combined. I have high hopes for Stud can make a leap.

Freddy should also get a look.

On defense, Forbort takes over Lauzon duties. Acts like a LD version of Carlo(defensive minded) in a way for McAvoy. I would 50/50 split goaltending duties between Ullmark and Swayman. Unless one is clearly better. But best to keep both engaged and fresh

Assuming that there is no 2C or 1LD trade in the works I see it like this

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
Hall-Coyle-Smith
Foligno-Haula-Studnicka
DeBrusk-Frederic-Lazar
Nosek

Gryz-McAvoy
Forbort-Carlo
Rielly-Clifton
Zboril
I could see a variety of players in that 2c role. Likely see Coyle,Studnicka,Haula, and Foligno in that spot until something clicks

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
Hall - Coyle - Smith
DeBrusk - Haula - Foligno
Nosek - Frederic - Lazar

Grzelcyk - McAvoy
Reilly - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton

Ullmark
Swayman

I think this is how they start the year but guys will get moved around a bunch til the find the best mix. If they move DeBrusk I think they move Haula to LW and put Studnicka in the middle. Probably put Forbort with McAvoy in shutdown situations.

You beat me to it. I posted the same lineup too. Coyle will probably get the first look as the in house 2C option. Haula will play C and not wing imo

Also, it's just now sinking in how the PP is going to be completely different with no Krejci on the half-wall as the distributor. Maybe they move Bergy back to point and move Hall into a shooting position. But they'll give up some digging and retention behind the net in that case.

Boy if Bergeron gets hurt this team is in trouble down the middle.
Everyone knows this at this point, but we gotta work with what we have.

Unless Sweeney pulls a rabbit out of a hat, (which isn't IMPOSSIBLE), but could prove difficult.

Maybe swap Haula and Coyle. Really need Coyle to return to form this season

Actually love this line 4.

I got it going one of these two ways depending what they do with studnicka

Marchand-bergy-pasta
Hall-studnicka-smith
Debrusk-foligno-coyle
Nosek-haula-lazar

obviously this is banking a lot on studnicka doing well, but keeps a defensively responsible smith on his line with some vets that have fire power. It also keeps all your right handed shots on RW with coyle and lazar. Foligno and haula have played plenty of center in the past.

OR without studnicka if he’s not ready

Marchand-bergy-pasta
Hall-foligno-smith
Debrusk-haula-coyle
Nosek-Frederic-lazar

Again it keeps the right handed shots on the right side. Coyle splayed wing before. You can technically rotate foligno/haula/coyle between those three spots.

You think Coyle is better than Foligno?

I like the 1st & 4th. 3rd could be good with JDB replaced by someone good. 2nd could be good with Hall driving the line. That's what I'd start with.

Marchand Bergeron Pasta
The holy trinity
Hall Stud Foligno
Skill with hall. Big body with Foligno. Set the kid up for success
JDB Coyle Smith
The redemption line
Haula Nosek Lazar
Best fourth line in hockey

But I agree. Bruce probably just moved Coyle up and mix matches third line

The goal of this lineup is to go with the pairs of:

Marchand/Bergeron - Been a pair for a decade now.
Hall/Pasta - Truly think there's magic to be had with this pair. Hall is a scoring chance producer, Pasta a rocket Richard winner
Haula/Coyle - Had success in Minnesota. Try to recapture that in the bottom 6 while getting beneficial matchups.

Marchand - Bergeron - Smith
Hall - Studnicka - Pasta
Haula - Coyle - Foligno
Nosek - Frederick - Lazar

Gryz - McAvoy
Reilly - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton

Ullmark
Swayman

There's the assumption that Stud can handle that role and I'm kinda of the opinion that him becoming the 2C next year is this teams only hope of not falling into mediocrity. I'm not a huge fan of Reilly in the top 4, but what else do we have to work with? Forbort moves up with Chuckie to protect leads late in the 3rd. Debrusk treaded for cap flexibility and draft picks.

The implication here is obvious.

But you're not replacing him? Flip for a pick and cap space?

Were Coyle and Haula linemates during their time with the Wild?

I would happy with a strong 3rd line since 2018-2019 season

It is almost crucial for Stud to take that leap. Otherwise DS has not drafted a top 9 center in 5 years .... yikes. Also what happened to JFK? Ties cut?
