EV Landshut terminated the contracts with its two strikers Zach O'Brien and Marcus Power after receiving compensation payments. Before that, O'Brien and Power had signed contracts with the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League (AHL) without the knowledge of the Landshut club management.

Apparently G Peyton Jones is still on an AHL deal with Colorado of the AHL. Jones, who had signed a 2-year deal with the Eagles last offseason, signed with the Avalanche last season, then was not qualified and became an NHL UFA. But the original deal he signed with the Eagles was a 2-year deal, and they must still be honouring that deal as he's in camp with the Avs this month and is listed on the roster as being on an AHL deal.

It really depends on their development (and age). You aren't burning NHL contract years getting to know the North American game.

Given their appearance at the Rangers development camp it would appear that Whelan, O'Leary, Berzolla, Sanchez and Guittari are likely to be signed to AHL contracts to provide some depth in Hartford. (Link)

The aforementionned players all spent time on Hartford's roster last season.
