Bullpen depth will likely be important tomorrow.
Braves used more relievers to tonight but none of them went much more than an inning. Reds relievers actually had 3 pitchers throw 20+ pitches whereas the Braves only had 1 (W. Smith had 19 if you want to include him). The vast majority of bullpen depth for both teams should still be pretty fresh, especially in only game 2 of a series. I think it will all come down to starting pitching tomorrow, Anderson the rookie vs Luis Castillo, a veteran #2 starter. If Anderson lets the game get away for the Braves, we have to win against Sonny Gray in game 3 with god knows who. Starting pitching is the most important thing in postseason baseball. Even though Bauer technically outpitched Fried tonight, we would have been nowhere without Fried, arguably our best starter this year even when Soroka was healthy.
