The MLB knew that this would happen. It's the reason we get taxi squads and a deep-ass player pool. They knew we'd get lots of cases and entire teams getting ravaged by it - their whole plan was to just push through it.

Lets face it, the train has left the station and the only thing stopping it is someone dying.

someone could die and not be a player/coach. Some hotel staffer if probably going to get it, if they haven’t already, and likely take it home unless they too are staying at the hotel

The Marlins also played the Braves last week, who started the season keeping out their top 2 catchers because of symptoms although they tested negative.

Freddie Freeman had a rough go with the virus. Can only imagine what he's thinking right now.

So if the 12 Marlins players have to quarantine at least 2 weeks, does Miami keep calling up players from the minors to fill the roster? (Once they have a game that isn't postponed)

Yeah, there are no minors in 2020 though, every team has a group of taxi squad players at an ''alternate training site''.

That should be it for the Marlins for the season if they knowingly played with positive COVID cases.

At the very least they forfeit the next “x” amount of games for quarantine purposes

My office deals with flying teams. We were on a call at 11am and told it sounds like the plan for now is to chug along and see how the Phils/Nats/Braves/Mets who had contact off the Marlins fare the next few days. If it outbreaks across more teams they’re going to shut it down for 2 weeks and resume in an NHL NBA setup and likely move fall games into domed parks

and then you're going to have to find another spot for Toronto

It kind of all feels like a waste of time. Even if they get through this with only one team really getting hit by it....what are the chances this is the last time it runs through a team like this in the next 2-3 months? It takes one player or staff member to go to the grocery store and contract it and all of a sudden the entire team has it.

Your risk at a grocery store is low. It sounds as if Urena was out at a club or something and several other guys might or might not have been with him. This smelled of being a result of players doing something dumb from the start

Right but you can pick it up from a grocery store. My point was more so that the people involved could be doing normal things and trying to be reasonable and the entire thing could still blow up...now add in the likelihood of people just not giving a shit(going to a club) and the chances of actually completing this as it is, is non existent.
