I actually think Mercer has a decent shot at turning out to be a better player than Smith but you have to give it to Ty based on his track record up to this point

Ty was held back this year when he shouldn’t have been - CHL dman of the year at 18 was very impressive and his sense of leadership cannot be taught

I think he will end up a very good #3 for us

I have a feeling we acquire a true top pair defenseman or one with that potential within the next two years if we dont see one of our own blossom

not the highest upside, but he is way ahead of the alternatives and will have an opportunity to establish himself early brcause of the roster needs.
