This will be a Ty Smith wipeout but I was tempted to go Mercer. I’m on the hype train.

I think Mercer has potential to be better player than Smith, so I picked him. Of course Smith is safer choice, because he is already two time WHL's Defenseman of the Year winner etc.

He was the CHL Defenseman of the year in his draft +1 season.

The kid is a blue chipper through and through. There is nothing safe about him. He has great upside.

I meant that it's more likely that Smith is a better player than Mercer, because he is already that good, and that's why he is safer choice than Mercer. I didn't mean to undervalue Smith. I just really like Mercer as a prospect.

Smith over Mercer because he's closer and has a solid post-draft track record. Mercer could make it interesting, though.

I mean, I like Foote, but you have two players that are a year apart and both playing in the CHL (albeit Q vs. WHL) and to me Mercer is just clearly the superior prospect, but I guess we'll see how the voting goes.

Yeah, I agree. He's a little older but he produced well in a much tougher "league" than the CHL. Hard to compare Mercer/Foote to Tyce directly, but I think it would be totally fair to have him 3rd.

Foote's injury really hurts him as far as ranking him goes. Especially since he wasn't our property in previous seasons. Our first chance to follow him, he was on the shelf.

Honestly I think Tyce is a wild card choice for 3 because of how good a year he had.

I like Tyce a lot but if I had got offered a late 2020 1st round pick for Tyce Thompson I accept immediately. I struggle to have him ahead of both Mercer and Mukhamadullin to be honest.

You act as if we've actually watched our prospects play a meaningful number of games.

I mean, a few of us have, but the vast majority are voting based on reports, stat sheets, draft position, recency bias, and unbridled hope
