Makar is straight up better than John Carlson. Same scoring rate last year on top of the league, Carlson just got more minutes. And Makar's defense just took a leap, he's easily a better defender than Carlson.

Not sure why theres a problem with a younger guy jumping into the top 10 and going #5 (5-8 are a toss up anyways). Not like he's passing anyone who is clearly deserving of that spot. Maybe Slavin I suppose. Maybe Carlson. But like I said it's a toss up between several players here. Just matters who had the most recent best performance. People always seem to have an issue with a young player being considered better than older players. In Miro's case, it's true for almost all of them. If he wasn't 21 he'd be an obvious choice for right around this spot

Yes. He's one of the best shutdown guys in the nhl, and his offensive numbers aren't much different than a guy like slavin.

Will be interesting to see if his numbers grow a bit with pietrangelo gone.
