I am looking to give Lucas Johansen a fresh start. Probably for an other underachieving prospect or picks!

SABRES ACQUIRE SEAN MONAHAN FROM FLAMES

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired forward Sean Monahan from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Tomas Hertl and the rights to defenseman Lawrence Pilut. The Sabres had acquired Hertl earlier in the day from San Jose, along with the 60th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, in exchange for forward Casey Mittelstadt, goaltender Carter Hutton, the 38th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and a 2nd round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Monahan (6' 2", 200 lbs, 10/12/1994) joins the Sabres after spending the last seven seasons in Calgary. During that span, Monahan tallied 194 goals and 411 points in 541 NHL games. Prior to turning pro, he spent three seasons with the OHL's Ottawa 67's, including one as Captain. The Brampton, Ontario native was drafted in the 1st round, 6th overall by the Flames in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

"We are beyond thrilled to add a stud center in Sean," said the Sabres GM. "We had to get creative (and we'd like to thank Tomas Hertl for his roughly 45 minutes with the Sabres), but in the end we've added a talented goal-scorer and bona fide top-6 center to our lineup. He will complement Jack well. Thanks to Casey and Carter for their time in Buffalo. Screw Lawrence for fleeing to Russia."

The 2020 NHL Entry Draft begins virtually this weekend.

SABRES ACQUIRE ANTTI RAANTA FROM APOLLOS

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired goaltender Antti Raanta from the Houston Apollos in exchange for forward Marcus Johansson and defenseman Linus Cronholm. As a part of the deal, the Sabres will retain 50% of Johansson's salary for the 2020-21 season.

Raanta (6' 0", 195 lbs, 5/12/1989) comes to Buffalo following a three-year stint with the Arizona Coyotes. Prior to joining the Coyotes, Raanta spent time with the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers. In his 7-year NHL career, Raanta has posted a 2.40 Goals Against Average and a .921 Save Percentage in 186 games. The Rauma, Finland native was undrafted.

"We are excited to add Antti to sure up the goaltending position," said the Sabres GM. "Antti has proven he has the ability to be a starter in this league and we are confident he will win us some games this season. Thank you to Marcus and Linus for their contributions to the Sabres organization."

The 2020 NHL Entry Draft begins virtually this weekend.

Screw it. Boston doesn't pick until 62, and NYI not until the 3rd round. We'll worry about them later.

Congrats to @Vanquish and the Minnesota Wild at winning the draft lottery.

Trades can now be announced.
WHHAAAATTT!!!!

I already traded away my first round pick :(:(:(:(

I have royally screwed myself before this mock even began.

Gave up what is now 1OA and took on salary with plan of compliance buyout but didnt realise there was no buyout

I AM THE BIGGEST DUMBASS ON HFB RIGHT NOW!!

I mean I’m not going to say to no to Hertl for Monahan. Happy to nab Pilut too. He’s coming back to North America and has signed a 2 year contract with a 975k AAV.

Whatever this trade is, I’m voiding it. No GM would ever trade a lottery pick before they know what it is.
