From Biondi's stats it looks like he hasn't made much progress this season:

He's been playing hurt. And now will have double shoulder surgery and he's done for the year. Playing hurt could explain why his production wasn't on par with last year.

They are 4th, 5th and 6th round picks, almost none of those picks from later rounds from any scouts hits most of the times.

So why bother having 7 rounds of drafting ? Three rounds and the top 100 would be plenty then .

Because it takes more than 3 draftees/years to fill a farm even if most don't play over 200 games at the NHL level.

With only 3 rounds, you might as well just move to the Sweden/Finland (EU Football) model instead.

Biondi enters the transfer portal and will play a 5th year at a different school. Not sure if his rights are gone for sure by the end of next season or on Aug 1, 2025.

yes they will keep his rights for one more year. I figured he would go back for his 5th year since he missed so much time in his Junior year and I've heard he's been working on his skating so it's smart to try and turn things around at a different program.

He'll need to really put in the work, his stride is something else :help: One of the ugliest skaters I've seen, easy.

Not sure if that extends the rights Montreal holds. His rights expire this August.

The rights to Gorniak were extended when he went back for a 5th year, but that was also linked to covid.
