Panarin and Bobrovsky appear to be intent on testing the UFA market, which makes it difficult for Columbus IMO. CBJ has about $28 million in projected cap space, so it conceivably could be done, but it would require a lot of things going right for Columbus.

I'm not sure why everyone is so convinced Detroit is, after comitting to a rebuild, going to go out and pay top dollar for a middle pairing nearly 30 year old defenseman when we're not close to competing. I fully expect us to stay the course, build through the draft, and not handicap ourselves with anymore albatross contracts on completely mediocre players. If anything, Detroit at the behest of Chris Illitch, throws up a hail mary for Karlsson. Gardiner wouldn't even be top pair on this dumpster fire of a d corp. If it's not Karlsson, let Hronek and Cholowski munch the big minutes with Green and Kronwall.

I'd love to add Trouba. I'd happily part with 6OA+ if necessary if we were in a position to do that now, but I don't think we are. We're about 1 top 6 winger and a legit 2C away from that trade making sense. If Zadina can stick with the club next year and show he's a legit top 6 scoring threat and AA can continue to develop into a matchup nightmare 2C behind Larkin then I think we're talking, not now though. If Yzerman did it anyway at the draft I'd still be thrilled I think.
