Hello, I know that someone in the past has done something similar but want to bring it back. This is just a fun Trade Deadline Prediction Game that will be tracked. Not trying to beat a dead horse.

Here’s the rules:
*Copy & paste the list of 25 names below into your reply- sorry if some players were missed; tried to pull the most common rumored names/trade bait lists, UFA/RFA’s etc.
*You must choose a different team (ie. Cannot put “stays" or "not traded”. Eg. Edler-stays, is not an option/ won’t count as a correct guess).
*You’re able to make adjustments anytime up to Thu Feb 21st @ 8pm PST/ 11pm EST. At this point your predictions are locked-in (screen shot taken).
*There will be a cap of how many people can partake (I’ll keep you posted, depending on how many get-in on this).
*Be sure to answer the tie-breaker (how many trades at this deadline) below the list of players.
*Try to keep this friendly. You may not agree with someone but it's just a game at the end of the day.
*I will try to post final results within 24-48hrs after the TDL.

Good luck!

I’d limit it to just UFA’s, if I were you. That’s a big enough class in itself this year.

You need to change the teams for some of your players in order to be eligible (can’t keep same existing team).

Not gonna lie, some of these are pretty hard because I do feel at least 5-8 of them aren't going anywhere.
Kapanen and Johnsson?

Why do people think the Jackets are going to give up on this season and trade away Bob and Panarin? Obviously it would benefit them long term(if they handled it right) but I canrt see them just throwing the season away when they are likely going to make the playoffs and desperate for that first ever series win.

I doubt they will... for the record. It’s just “if they do” scenario.

Just a reminder to change the team... it makes it easier to determine the correct trades if every player has a new home. Ie don’t have a player stick with their original team, it won't count as a trade guessed correctly. I get it's logical for many of these players to stay put but it defeats the purpose of a "trade proposal" thread.

Edler— van (isn’t an option)

This quote from the Athletic yesterday sums it up the best:

5. Sergei Bobrovsky, Blue Jackets – Moving a goalie at this time of year is always a challenge. In Columbus’ case, it’s even harder because they would have to replace him too. There are a lot of moving parts right now for Kekalainen and his staff, but the feeling remains that he has to make a move here. “They’re not a Stanley Cup contending team. They’re just not,” said a team executive. “So don’t you have to move both of them? You’re not making a run for the Cup with them both there. You may win a round at best. I don’t think they’re good enough.”

So are the Jackets in this to just make the playoffs or win a cup? Personally, I'm interested in building a cup contender and this team just isn't there yet so I hope we sell both the Russians.

That said, I would be very surprised if Jarmo did this. At the very least he will bring in some short term help to make a push. Buy/sell with the net being some good young assets for the future.

Agree with that but I think a team like the Jackets honestly want that series win enough to not trade off two of their best players. If this were another team whos already had playoff success I could easily see it. I just dont with them. Especially the message it sends to their fans. Its a tough place to be in because Im sure theyd like to get something of great value in return for the long run...but with them doing good right now I see them hanging on to both.

For example look at the Sens. They knew they were losing players so they had a firesale . But they also already had that playoff success. Werent concerned with losing fans, etc...they were preparing for the future. Just dont think the Jackets can do that. I see them riding it out with both Bob and Panarin for this playoff run. Unless we see some blockbuster trade that still keeps them a playoff team
