Drafting a RB this high is odd in this era. Barkley is already now one of the highest paid RBs in football. With cap space so precious, he enters the league as an expensive player at his position. And this is a position where guys never live up to a second contract.

Yeah. If I recall correctly this will make him the 6-7th highest contract AAV among RB’s, and like 8-9th in cap hit his rookie season,

That’s true. Wentz and Goff as the top 2 picks signed 4 year deals worth $29 million.

I believe freeman has the highest per year average at $8 mill and change.

But, pay for the results I guess.

If he is as good as they say, he will be the rare player getting paid for his current value unlike most who get paid based on past play. And if he helps carry them on some playoff runs, it will all be well worth it.
