and a very happy birthday to Ivan Lodnia as well. He turns 19 today (August 31). In other words, he played his 16 year old season in the OHL, amassing 39 points in 62 games.

Jack McBain was 18 for most of the past season, playing in Junior A, and he was the 19th highest scorer in that league. I know he's a shiny prospect, but he's not a better prospect than Lodnia (or Shaw or Khovanov). Excited to see what he does against real competition but come on.

I think Lodnia is still underrated here. I think he's going to be a really good 3rd round pick. But obviously a very long way to go.

I'm going off the board here with Dewar, I think he'll turn into a nice 3C. Everyone else on the list is a boom or bust candidate for me.

A little bit older for his draft class, but a ppg draft year is always a good sign. Involvement with Team Canada another. Finished third in WHL playoff scoring among U19 players (he turned 19 in late June) behind two 2017 draft picks: Heponiemi (2nd round, 40th overall) and Michael Rasmussen (1st, 9th) and 8th overall. What else can the kid do? It's the kind of pick I want my team to make every year.

I was harsh on him as a pick on draft day, but I liked him in the scrimmages and he plays with an edge. His ceiling looks like a Shaw type of 3C.
