Stoke me a clipper.
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm <-- Elite Shutdown line / Secondary Scoring Line
It will be a very good shutdown line, yes.

Gaudreau-Bennett-Czarnik <-- Elite Top Scoring Line
Why you insist on putting Gaudreau on the third line is beyond me.

Monahan-Jankowski-Ryan <-- Elite Secondary Scoring Line
kay!

Elite. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

He used it often on Bennett and I think Kulak also.

I think he really meant lite----the e is just added for drama

Is there some magic that you know that I do not?

That's all the players they have.

Yes, Bennett and Jankowski (along with Lindholm) need to break out for them to have a chance.

No magic isn't real and commenting on that non-playoff lineup obviously wasn't meant to lay blame at your feet, its just the reality of what we're working with.

I'm going to have a little fun with the James Neal rumor.

1st idea.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Brouwer - Ryan - Czarnik
x: Lazar

2nd idea.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Brouwer - Ryan - Czarnik
x: Lazar

3rd idea.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Lindholm - Neal
Jankowski - Backlund - Frolik
Brouwer - Ryan - Czarnik
x: Lazar

4th idea.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm
Frolik - Jankowski - Neal
Brouwer - Ryan - Czarnik
x: Lazar

If we get Neal I have no idea where you put him, Janko's wing? Because Bennett needs ice-time with Tkachuk dammit.

Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan - James Neal
Matthew Tkachuk - Elias Lindholm - Sam Bennett
Mark Jankowski - Mikael Backlund - Austin Czarnik
Spencer Foo/Lazar - Derek Ryan - Michael Frolik
Brouwer

Mark Giordano - T.J. Brodie
Noah Hanifin - Travis Hamonic
Brett Kulak - Michael Stone

Mike Smith
Jon Gillies

We gotta find a way to move Brouwer. Otherwise I think he'll most likely insert in over Foo/Lazar for now.

ive really liked the moves you guys have made this offseason.... looks like the start to a very good season for you guys. The ryan/czarnik signings are pretty under the radar good deals... neal is a perfect fit... and the trade I thought was Steller for you guys... I think you will win the division this year(though im not particularly sold on mike smith) does he have a short leash? you guys have some solid goalie prospects, do you think anyone overtakes him?

Only thing I don't like about the neal deal... is prob 1 or 2 years longer then id like to sign him but he should have a couple good years left in him.

For Neal I'd say the aavis about 750k too high and the term 1-2 years too long, but with UFAs it is the nature of the beast. So I'll take it.

As for Smith, he was our MVP last year until his injury. Because of the playoff race and the struggles of Rittich and Gillies as starters during his injury, it is believed he returned before he was 100% and thus was not as good as he had been before the injury. If he's healthy, we have zero concerns in net. If he does miss time with injury, it's all up in the air. Neither Gillies nor Rittich was ready to handle a starters workload last year, but as you know with prospects, this year they could be.

This is the most likely roster except for Gillies. He needs to go back to the minor to learn how to play goaltending.
Rittich is the backup unless Smith gets injured then who knows.

That is not the most likely roster. Brouwer will be an every day player and Frolik will not be on the 4th line behind Czarnik

I really like those lines. That second line could really hurt people. Like, there’s 170 points to be found on that line potentially.

Moving Frolik down to Benny’s line is awesome. He gives the best two way play that line has had; true professional for two kids that really need it.

LOL...I was just commenting on the roster not the lineup. I agreed the lines are not likely

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Frolik - Ryan - Brouwer
Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik

Line #1 - I think they'll stick to the original plan of giving Lindolm the opportunity to play with Gaudreau and Monahan. Playing with 2 great playmakers could propel Monahan towards 40 goals next season as a 24 year old.

Line #2 - I think Neal is a clear upgrade on Frolik for this line, and I am stoked at the thought of Tkachuk and Neal playing together and what that will look like...lots of sandpaper and getting under the skin of opponents. Oh yeah, and lots of goals, too.

Line #3 - On a young team, having a veteran line like this would be important. I'm not sure of Frolik's experience playing on the left wing, but as a left shot I am thinking it can be done. If not, perhaps Brouwer can switch sides.

Line #4 - Bennett and Jankowski gelled at times last year, so I am thinking that keeping them together to begin things could be the right way to start the season. Czarnik could be a skill upgrade over the wingers they played with last year, namely Hathaway.
