I doubt strongly that this would work, russia doesn't underestimate nobody they also played against Italy with the same power like against Sweden.

Russia especially won't underestimate Finland, given the recent history. They should know very well that we can play like crap against anyone else, but still give specifically them a ton of trouble.

Well i know that this sound kinda trolling, but i can even see Usa to win Russia at regular. I have seen sometimes that kind of things happen to Russia when they are not interested to play against someone. Good thing is that if we are facing actually Russia they have Vasilevsky at goal. I have seen him going down this year multiple times under pressure... there is no reason to think that it might happen again.

Recent history shows that if we are leading Russia about 2-3 goals, they start pushing alone and that works for us. I´m actually most confident having match against them. Sweden would be worst scenario imo.

Haha, fun comments from Tretiak, I'm sure most of the Swedish players and coaches could say something similar about Finland. Finland have a tendency bringing their best vs Sweden and Russia. Fighting spirit is increadibly important in a physical game like hockey.

Even though the Finland has played some terrible games in this WC they will never be underestimated, that's for sure.

I strongly prefer playing Finland comparing to Russia. Russia is frustrating the hell out of me, many times we are outplaying Russia but they are still scoring on counter attacks and rushes. (Not talking about the Soviet era now though when Soviet was outstanding.)

This. I prefer Russia over USA every time. Sure we could get beaten up heavily, but this year I would not care too much.

If Finland ever lost to Russia 10-0 on purpose, the plane carrying the coach and players would be shot down if it ever attempted to enter Finnish airspace! The players would all have to move to Copenhagen and seek Swedish nationality

Yet, losing to the almighty Maple Nation ten to nothing in order to upset the Russians in the following QFs and given this "loser's strategy" paid off and the Finns entered the medal rounds (a prospect I cannot but approach with mixed feelings given my promise to change my nick if that ever happens) eventually winning the tournament I am sure this kinda opportunistic blowout loss to the Sons of Northern Maples would be hailed as one ingenious move in the art of modern hockey warfare and the players and the stuff would be escorted to homeground with fighters flying by their wings.

This is hypothetical though but in life, love and hockey you must do what you must do to win the right games, man.

So. That game left more open questions than gave us answers. In fact, it may have opened a bunch of new ones.

We could use at least another line that can consistently create offense. Marjamäki shuffled the deck again at the closing minutes of the game, but nothing came of it. So what will happen the day after tomorrow? Of course something needs to be done, but it's far from the ideal time to do any big adjustments. Like I said earlier, this was the game where they could've - and apparently should've - experimented a little.

Question number two - who goes in net? I'm not sure if Säteri can be blamed for any that went, but five in still isn't the ideal situation for a goalie we should ride in the game of death. The minder's probably going to need to stand on his head in the next game if we want to win, and while Säteri isn't bad, he doesn't look like a sudden god-mode goalie either.

I probably would go with Korpisalo in goal. Not that he is that much better and I´m not always impressed about his technique. But probably the thing that I have been most impressed about Korpisalo is his ability to bounce back. I have seen him make some horrible mistakes in NHL, but get back from those quite quickly. I guess if we hope a "god-mode" goalie to QF my money would be on Korpisalo.

Anyway, it seems I may save my trade mark name here and Berry Hill will fly outta the team. He is good with kids of primary school age and younger though. -Maybe the Federation will find him something suitable in that field. Like some young Finland/everybody plays (and most suck) kinda project which could be kicked off just for the sake of him to manage the thing.

Lack of offencive production has been our biggest issue. We have a lot of players who plays solidly in the NHL and we even have a poor version of Karlsson. I still don't get it how team filled with KHL/NHL players can't produce even against countries that are normally beaten by five goals. Finland shouldn't depend on NHL players because the level of this tournament doesn't need it. We have a lot great talent and I'm a bit disappointed that there weren't more young guns playing this year even though the ones representing now have been outstanding.
